ONLINE COURSES There are certain circumstances where an online course may be the best option for you. BUT, online courses may not be the best option for you and your learning style. Because courses require independent study, you must remain disciplined to succeed. It is highly recommended that unless absolutely necessary, that you DO NOT take an online course. Experience has shown us that most students do not finish, or have trouble passing the final exam. For example, if you take a course through BYU, you have to pass the final exam in order to pass the class. For those of you who are taking online classes currently, you MUST be completed (including the final) by the end of the school year, or it will be added back into your senior schedule. For those of you who are planning on taking an online class, you MUST be signed up by May 1 st and provide confirmation in order for us to take that course out of your selection/schedule. For those of you who are planning on taking a senior class online, you MUST have the course completed by Thanksgiving break, or it will be put back into your spring semester.
SUMMER SCHOOL AT CHS Carroll High School is offering two sessions of Summer School Session 1: June 12 June 30, 8:00 AM-1:00 PM Session 2: July 10 28, 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM Seniors can take any course for credit recovery AND Government and/or Economics Students that plan to be a seven-semester grad can take one or two semesters of English 12 If you plan to take a course(s) during summer school you MUST: turn in a Summer School form before they are taken out of your selections/schedule mark on your course selection sheet, what class(es) you will take over the summer. Forms will be available online and in the Guidance Office
Course Selection Sheet Select your classes (14 checkmarks) Select your ZERO HOUR CHOICE (2 checkmarks) SHOULD HAVE A TOTAL OF 16 CHECKMARKS Choose alternates on your course selection form ONLY you do not need to choose alternates online! Do not choose classes that you have already taken as your alternates. MUST have a student and parent signature. Selections are due online and sheets are due to Guidance by February 9 th!

ZERO HOUR FACTS There is no transportation provided. There are no specific classes that are only scheduled during Zero Hour it is simply another period in our school day. You can choose to take Zero Hour for only one semester or for two semesters.

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND. Choose wisely and challenge yourself. What you take compared to what we offer, matters to colleges. They want to see that you re taking difficult classes. IU and Purdue require Pre-calculus and/or Trigonometry. Some colleges require a World Language. Start checking college admissions requirements now. If you haven t already, start planning college visits Take the SAT and/or ACT at least once (or twice) this school year.
Questions? Mrs. Bowland and Ms. Fox will be available before and after school in the Commons and during Activity Period. If you are in a study hall, your teacher can write you a pass to come see us during the day. Please do not sign up on a blue counselor pass to see us in regards to scheduling for next year. Just come during your study hall, before/after school, and/or during Activity Period If you need to talk about this year s classes, personal issues, etc., please fill out a blue counselor request pass like normal. You can also US with any questions!
