No.: DP/EDN/GNL/RIMC/2012/2300 Dt. 16/09/2015 PRESS RELEASE FOR NEXT RIMC ADMISSION TEST IN DEC 2015 PRESS INFORMATION BUREAU (DEFENCE WING) GOVERNMENT OF INDIA 1. The Rashtriya Indian Military College is an inter- Services Institution and a Category A establishment of the Ministry of Defence. The College was established in 1922 with the Primary aim of preparing the boys for entry into Defence Services and to provide quality all round education to young boys. 2. Applications are invited from boys for admission to the Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC), Dehradun (UK) for Jul 2016 Term which will be conducted at selected centers on 01(Tue) and 02(Wed) Dec Entry Age- Candidates appearing for the above test should not be less than 11½ years in age but should not have attained the age of 13 yrs as on 01 Jul 2016, i.e., they should have been born not earlier than 02 Jul 2003 and not later than 01 Jan Educational Qualification- Candidates should either be studying in Class VII or passed Class VII from any recognized school at the time of admission to the RIMC, i.e. on 01 Jul Scheme of Examination- The examination comprises of :- (a) Written Examination- The written part of the examination will consist of three papers, namely, English( hrs) and Mathematics ( hrs) shall be conducted on 01 (Tue) Dec 2015 and General Knowledge paper ( hrs) on 02 (Wed) Dec Minimum pass marks in each paper is 50%. (b) Viva voca- The interview date shall be 05(Tue) Apr 2016, and interview will be held for only those candidates who qualify in the written exam, Minimum pass marks in interview is 50% and the date, venue for interview will be intimated to them by respective State early by Mar Intelligence and personality of the candidates will be tested in the interview. (c) Medical Examination- The candidates finally selected after the viva-voca will undergo a medical examination at selected Military Hospitals and only those candidates found medically fit will be considered for selection and admission to the RIMC. The medical examination. 6. Examination centers- Examination centers are generally located in the state capitals or in cities/towns as per advertised. 7. Fee- Fees at RIMC is heavily subsidized by the Central Govt. The fee is presently Rs. 42,400/- per year. It may increase from time to time. At the time of entry a Security Deposit of Rs. 20,000/- is to be made. This is refunded when the boy passes out. 8. Scholarships- Scholarships are granted by various state Govts to meritorious srudents. The amount of scholarships varies from state to state and is in between Rs. 10,000/- to Rs. 20,000/- per annum. Continuation of scholarship once granted by the state is subject to merit, income and discipline of the cadet and his performance during the year. 9. Procedure to obtain Application Forms- The prospectus-cum-application form and booklet of old question papers can be obtained by registered post/ speed post by sending a written request with an account payee bank demand draft of Rs. 430/- (for Registered post) or Rs. 480/- (for Speed Post) for General Candidates and Rs. 385/- (for Registered post) or Rs. 435/- (for Speed Post)for SC/ST candidates. The demand draft will be made in favour of THE COMMANDANT RIMC DEHRADUN, DRAWEE BRANCH, STATE BANK OF INDIA, TEL BHAVAN, DEHRADUN, (BANK CODE-01576), UTTARAKHAND. The address should be TYPED / WRTITTEN clearly on CAPITAL LETTERS with pin code contact number. RIMC will NOT be responsible for any postal delay or loss in transit of prospectus caused by illegible or incomplete address. NOTE:- Locally printed or photocopied and without RIMC Hologram (Seal) forms will be rejected. 10. Last Date- Applications in duplicate on prescribed from accompanied by documents to be attached with application form two passport size photographs, Domicile Certificate of the Candidate, Birth Certificate (issued by Municipal Corporation/Gram Panchayat, SC, ST Certificate and Certificate from principal of the School in original with photograph on it attested stating date of birth and in which Class studying. Application forms should reach the respective Govts of which their parents/ guardians are domicile of, by 30 Sep The wards of service personnel, Pare Military Personnel and other Central Govt. employees with transferable job may submit the application form in the state of domicile or the states where they are posted. However, in order to verify the antecedents of such candidates, the State (where such candidates intend taking the written test) are free to ask for service certificates over and above the routine documentation. The States where the candidates appear must also satisfy themselves with respect to place of duty of the parent/guardian. Other than the above, state are to ensure that no other candidate must be allowed to appear for the written examination in a state other than which the candidate is domicile of. In accordance with Para 2(a) of Govt. of India, Ministry of Defence letter No MoD/IC/1072/32/AS (J)/6864/2006 dated 01 Sep 2006 and letter No A/36105/GS/MT-6/D(GS-II) dated 03 Sep 2014, the next RIMC examination for admission to Class VII in the Rashtriya Indian Millitary College, Dehradun for the Jul 2016 term will be held at the selected centres in the country on 01(Tue) and 02(Wed) Dec The candidates will be examined in the following subjects:- Subject Maximum Marks (a) English Written Paper 125 (b) Mathematics Written Paper 200 (c) General Knowledge Written Paper 75 Interview, designed primarily to test the (d) intelligence, personality etc of candidates and 50 (Who have qualified in the written exam only) not proficiency in English. Total 450 Note: The interviews will be held for only those candidates who pass the written exam; their list will be sent to the respective State Governments by the Army Headquarters. 2. The Examination in English ( hrs) and Mathematics ( hrs) shall be conducted on 01 (Tue) Dec 2015 and General Knowledge paper ( hrs) on 02(Wed) Dec The interview date shall be on 05 (Tue) Apr Mathematics and General Knowledge papers may be answered either in Hindi or in English. The examination will be held simultaneously for all the candidates, whether they answer the Question papers in Hindi or English. Minimum pass marks in each paper including interview will be 50% and if the candidate fails to secure 50 % marks in any paper he will be declared ineligible for admission. The selection of the candidates will be purely on merit. 3. Only boys are eligible to apply for admission to the RIMC, Dehradun. All Candidates who qualify in the written test will be required to undergo a viva-voce test in the state of which they are domicile of, irrespective of, where they have given the written examination. The documents of candidates who have appeared in the written examination other than the states of domicile will be checked before the viva voce by the state govt. Only the candidates finally selected after the viva voce will undergo a medical examination at selected Millitary Hospitals and only the candidates found medically fit will be considered for selection and admission to the RIMC. The medical examination of the candidates forms only a part of system of selection and dose not include the final selection. Candidates should not therefore, consider themselves finally selected until Govt order to this effect is issued and call up notices are sent to them by the Govt. 6. I am request that necessary arrangements, as in the previous years, may please be made for holding the examination in the states and the name (with tele, fax numbers and address) of the officers nominated for conducting the examination may be communicated to the Commandant, RIMC, Dehradun by 15 Oct ADEQUATE PUBLICITY may please be given regarding this examination in the local papers at least twice or thrice through the press release before 10 Jul In case State Govts desire that the applications should be submitted through the District Officer, this may be made clear in the notices to be issued in the local papers.
