Introduction According to the XII Five Year Plan, higher education in India needs to be aligned with global standards. Capacity has to be created for an additional two million students from the eligible age cohort. The Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India has set targets to achieve goals for higher education in India, as envisaged in the XII Five Year Plan. Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) a Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS), launched in 2013 aims at providing strategic funding to eligible higher education institutions. It places great emphasis on improving access to education, with an overall objective to improve the Gross Enrollment Ratio by 2020. The scheme is based on key principles such as performance-based funding, incentivizing performing institutions and decision making through clearly defined norms. RUSA aims to provide greater autonomy to universities as well as colleges with a sharp focus on equity-based development, and improvement in teaching-learning quality and research. To achieve these objectives, the Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP) was launched as a long-term programme of about 10-12 years duration to be implemented in three phases for the transformation of the Technical Education System with assistance from the World Bank. The first phase (TEQIP-I) commenced in March 2003 and ended in 2009 and the second phase (TEOIP-II) commenced in 2009 and ended in March 2017. In continuation with its efforts the third project phase, TEQIP-III aims to improve the quality of education through policy, academic and management practices in engineering institutions with a special focus on the Low Income States and the Special Category States. The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) have been entrusted with the responsibility of conducting Professional Development Trainings (PDTs) The broad aim is to enhance the management, governance and leadership aspects of technical education. The target audience of the PDTs are Senior Faculty members from recognized engineering colleges across the country. The Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli is honoured to be part of this ambitious vision for India and welcomes you to the Professional Development Training (PDT) for Senior Faculty. PDT for Senior Faculty is a five-day residential programme designed for Dean/HoD/ Placement incharge/training and Placement Officers/Entrepreneurship Cell in-charge or similar level faculty members. The aim of this programme is to build capabilities in academic leadership. Programme directors Prof Prashant Gupta has recently joined IIM Trichy in May 2018. Prior to that he has served with IIMI Delhi at various positions and has been Dean, School of Management at Gautam Buddha University, Greater Noida. His 22 years of experience is a blend of industry and academics. He has also been actively involved in training and has conducted various training programs (Including programs for International participants & Board Level Programs) for more than 40 companies and has trained more than 4000 middle, senior and top-level executives of almost all big PSUs like ONGC, IOC, Oil India, HPCL, NTPC, GAIL, NLC, Coal India etc. He has also trained more than 1500 Foreign participants (Government /Private Sector Executives) of around 55 countries, sponsored by Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. Dr Prashant is also a trained faculty member by Ivy Business School, Canada and International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group Company), USA on Corporate Governance. Prof. Narahari Hansoge holds an FPM in Finance from IIM Bangalore. He has been with IIM Trichy for close to 5 Years and was Chairperson-FPM & Research for 3 years from 2014-2017. A Chartered Accountant (2003) and an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad (2006), he was an auditor with Price Waterhouse and an Investment Banker with Merrill Lynch, in his previous lives. Pedagogical approach This programme follows a peer-learning approach. Hence, this would be a highly interactive and intensive programme. We believe in learning from each other and carrying the best practices of each other back home. Participants, being very senior in academics are expected to bring their valuable knowledge, experience, and problems to the discussion so that we learn together. Programme directors and resource persons are mainly facilitators. Nominations Up to three nominations from each institution will be accommodated. Additional nominations will be accepted subject to availability. Programme material Programme kit will contain a basic reference, reading material and stationery. The presentations will be made available to participants, subject to the consent of the resource person. Tiruchirappalli (Trichy) is a prominent city for art and culture in the state of Tamil Nadu, India with several tourist attractions in the neighbourhood. As part of the program, we will arrange a visit to Rockfort Temple, Srirangam Temple and Grand Annicut. 3 P a g e

Programme schedule The programme will begin with the inaugural session on Monday, 6 th August 2018 at 9:30 hrs. Participants are required to check in early (on August 5, 2018, Sunday) such that they are present for the inauguration. A detailed schedule will be shared with participants soon. Resources IIM Tiruchirappalli's has a functional learning resource centre and has access to electronic databases. The centre which is fully air-conditioned and wi-fi enabled and has computer terminals for use by participants. However, participants may find it useful to bring their laptops to work on the projects. The classrooms are well furnished with AV facilities. Logistics support Accommodation Food Accommodation shall be arranged for five nights at IIM Trichy Campus. Participants may check in a day prior to the programme and check out on the last day of the programme. If any participant wishes to arrive earlier, additional charges will have to be settled by the participant. Breakfast will be served at the Guest House of IIM Trichy. Working lunch and refreshments will be served during the programme. Dinner will be served at the Guest House of IIM Trichy as per a fixed menu. Any additional charges for laundry, additional food or accommodation will have to be settled by the participant before check out at the guest house directly. Code of conduct Please be seated in class as per programme schedule. Please switch off mobile phones during the sessions. Please bring the relevant course material to class every day. Attendance in all sessions is a mandatory requirement to receive the Certificate of Participation, which will be distributed after the last session on Friday 10 th August 2018. Please note that our campus is a no smoking and no-alcohol zone. Registration for participants not sponsored by NPIU Fee per participant (if not sponsored by the National Project Implementation Unit (NPIU) of the Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India is Rs. 37, 500/- plus all applicable taxes.
