Two Different Worlds with B5 In B5 we have immersed ourselves into Rivergums Primary School s Positive Behaviour System since the beginning of the year. Ed Sheeran and Sesame Street provided the ideal song to develop our understanding of these in their tune Two Different Worlds. Students really do belong to two awesome worlds - home and school. Behaviour expectations differ. Responsibilities differ. Resilience and persistence are both required to progress and succeed. We ve enjoyed singing, hoping to have carried our voices all the way to the back of the Undercover Area to our wonderful families. We aimed to engage all areas of the school, from Pre Primary right through to Year 6. We hope you enjoyed our assembly. Ms Starr Jamieson B5 Classroom Teacher

Positive Behaviour Support This fortnight we have been focusing on: I ignore disruptions and negative behaviours around me I inform teachers about playground problems and how to solve them It s been a busy fortnight in the library as all factions and all year groups have enjoyed Games Time in the Library. Our students have been playing a number of games including Battleships, Uno, Guess Who, Monopoly, Pictionary, Jenga and lots of others. These games are teaching valuable social skills whilst fostering our PBS behaviour expectations. Students are being respectful of each other whilst sharing the Library space. Students are being responsible when using the equipment and when packing away carefully. Students are resilient when they are not always the winner during their games. Students are persistent when they keep trying at new games and having another turn when they don t win. A big thank you to all of our student volunteers who have given up their lunch time to organise and set up equipment and help other students. Pirate Day for Childhood Cancer Research On Friday the 8th of June (Week 6) we will be participating in Pirate Day Friday! Pirate Day Friday is an annual national day of dressing up to raise awareness and much-needed funds for childhood brain cancer. Every dollar raised through Pirate Day Friday is allocated to scientific studies focused on childhood brain cancer through The Adventurers in WA and The Kids Cancer Project in all other states and territories. In 2018, money raised by pirates in WA will go to the Telethon Kids Institute Cancer Centre Brain Tumour Research Program. For a gold coin donation, students are invited to dress up in their best pirate costume. If students choose not to participate they must wear their full school uniform, it is not a free dress day. Please remember to leave your swashbuckling pirate swords at home. More information can be found on the Pirate Day Friday website.
