Experience College BEFORE COLLEGE

Photo by Dave Mead Experience College Before College Accelerate student success Why offer OnRamps dual enrollment? Enrich your students high school experience AND improve their college success with The University of Texas at Austin s OnRamps dualenrollment program. Many of the best-prepared high school and community college students even those who have taken the most rigorous coursework available still struggle in entry-level courses at flagship and other universities. The primary goal of OnRamps is to prepare high school students for postsecondary success. Designed by UT Austin faculty and aligned with expectations of leading research universities, OnRamps provides high school students with the chance to experience innovative, collegelevel courses. They can earn both high school and college credit. High school teachers who facilitate the courses on your campus receive high-quality, ongoing professional development from UT Austin faculty. By engaging in OnRamps courses, students learn first-hand what it takes to succeed at the college level and how they can meet those expectations. Students who meet course requirements earn three hours of core college credit on a UT Austin transcript. Students who take one dual credit course are two times as likely to graduate college. Help students experience college before college In addition to serving accelerated learners, OnRamps delivers UT Austin coursework and develops skills for students who might not have considered themselves college-bound. Students enroll at the local level, so classes are as accessible as any other high school offering. Courses are the same as those taught at UT Austin, so unlike AP, no additional tests are required for college credit. In addition, students are exempt from the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Assessment. Of course, success goes beyond course credits. Students in OnRamps courses consistently state they would recommend the course to their peers and say OnRamps prepares them with the skills, knowledge, and confidence necessary for college. Exemplary curriculum designed by UT Austin faculty Based on the latest teaching research and best-in-class educational tools, OnRamps customizable, multimedia courses promote active learning and student success. Face-toface classroom instruction coupled with online materials and activities support learning in and outside of the classroom. OnRamps students learn by using the same digital tools and online access as full-time UT Austin students. The result? A greater percentage and diversity of students who follow a path to college success. Locally, OnRamps teachers receive additional training from UT Austin, use UT Austin s innovative pedagogy and curriculum, and get yearlong one-on-one support and feedback from subject matter experts. I think in the long run, the course helps prepare you for the college-level work and the type of college-level feedback you will receive in future. Although it is difficult to an average high school student, if you work hard in this course it will become easier in college because you will know what to expect. Proven pedagogies OnRamps courses and materials are based on the most current research about how students learn best and incorporate innovative pedagogies from UT Austin such as inquiry, project-based and problem-based learning. All content meets the Texas Core Curriculum. Courses are guaranteed to transfer to any public postsecondary institution in Texas. CURRENT ONRAMPS OFFERINGS ELA PreCalculus Statistics Computer Science Geoscience OnRamps is a great program! It provides the curriculum and support for the teacher and it provides the students with a real college experience at a fraction of the cost. It gives students the rigor of a UT Austin college course but with high school support so that they are not overwhelmed and set up for failure. Instead, students are set up for success.
