Vision, Mission, Beliefs

Towns County Schools Facilities Towns County Schools offers a unique setting with all three schools being housed on one campus. The elementary school houses kindergarten through fifth grade and 9th District s Headstart/Pre-K program. The middle and high school reside in the same building being separated by administrative offices, a cafeteria, and a media center. All three schools share an auditorium. Athletic facilities include a football field, track, baseball field, softball field, tennis courts, soccer field, high school gymnasium, and middle school gymnasium. The facilities of Towns County Schools are a testament to the value the citizens of Towns County place on education, athletics, and their children.

Towns County Elementary School is located on a beautiful mountain campus. Currently we serve approximately 420 students in grades Kindergarten through grade 5. The climate of our school is warm, supportive, and challenging. Our professionally qualified faculty of 32 teachers and 25 paraprofessionals meet the needs of students in grades Kindergarten through Fifth grades by offering a variety of academic programs including: Special Education English Language Learners (ESOL) Gifted Education Early Intervention Program (EIP) Music Physical Education Art Media Career Explorations Academic Enrichment Science and Math lab 21st Century After School and Community Learning Center Afterschool Program Towns County Elementary School offers clubs such as DRUM, Chorus, Student Council, CHAMPS (Drug Prevention), SOAR-Reading, MORE-Math, Robotics, and 4-H.

We are Proud of Our School! TCES named 2016-2017 Reward School for High Progress TCES is becoming a PBIS school with implementation of the Positive Behavior Interventions and Support beginning in January. TCES was awarded the Georgia Shape School Physical Activity and Nutrition Grant. The TCES Robotics team has participated in several competitions and events to promote interest in STEM related activities.

Spooky Science Night is a time for families to visit classrooms and participate in exciting science experiments. TCES has a Science Olympiad team.

Fine Arts Art: Students have the opportunity to create pottery that is fired in the TCS kiln. The Annual Art Show allows families to view the wonderful artwork of TCES students. Artwork has been displayed in a booth at the Georgia Mountain Fair. Music: Fall Performance at Spooky Science Night Winter Musical and Chorus Production Spring Musical and DRUM Performance Ukuleles have been added to the instrument collection for student use in the music classroom. Recorder Karate and Percussion Instrument Practice

Health and PE TCES was awarded the Georgia Shape School Physical Activity and Nutrition Grant committing the school to 30 extra minutes of physical activity each day. Students received footballs and related items from the Atlanta Falcons as part of the Rise Up 159! Flag Football Grant. Students walked on the track in honor of National Walk to School Day.

Towns County Middle School is a small school with approximately 220 students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. Qualified, dedicated teachers, many of whom attended school here, provide a culture where people know and care about each other. The implementation of the middle school concept is a factor in the overall success of TCMS. Students and teachers are divided into teams by grade level which provides a sense of belonging and seeks to address the special physical, social, mental, and emotional changes associated with adolescence. Georgia Standards of Excellence guide the curriculum and assessment and research-based instructional strategies facilitate learning for all students.

Health and PE Students have the opportunity to participate in Heath and Physical Education courses during connection class periods. Each class participates in the Fitness Gram assessment and works to show growth in the areas assessed. Team sports as well as individual exercise opportunities are provided.

Fine Arts TCMS has both band and chorus classes so students can develop and express their musical talents. Visual Arts has been added to the Connection Class offerings. Spanish is provided for students who are interested in beginning to learn a second language.

CTAE at TCMS Agriculture classes are available to TCMS during the Connections Class period. 8 th Graders have the opportunity to take Basic Agriculture for high school credit. Computer classes are available during Connections as well. 8 th Graders have the opportunity to take Introduction to Business Technology for high school credit. Robotics is another technical course offered to TCMS students during Connections.

Towns County High School serves approximately 350 students. The staff at Towns County High School strives to provide an education to our students that will prepare them both academically and for the world and potentials careers ahead. Many career and technical education programs are offered on campus and Towns County High School provides dual enrollment opportunities at both the university and technical school levels.

We Are Proud of Our School! Towns County High School students had an average composite score of 22 on the ACT in 2017. This average ranked 14 th in the state of GA and first in our RESA! The average SAT score ranked 2 nd in RESA and 23 rd in the State. The CCRPI score for TCHS was 83.7 showing a 10 point increase and ranking 5 th in RESA.

Health and PE Students at Towns County High School have the opportunity to learn ways to promote physical health and strength through various Health and PE course offerings.

Fine Arts Towns County High School offers Band, Chorus, Dance and Visual Arts. Each of these programs bring an atmosphere of excitement through their lively performances or displays of artwork. These programs enhance the academic offerings provided by the high school.

CTAE Towns County High School offers career education opportunities through CTAE Pathways in various fields related to business, health occupations, and agriculture. Each of these areas have strong chapters in their career related club such as Future Business Leaders of America, Future Farmers of America, and Health Occupation Students of America.
