Top of the mountain, top results. Issue 272 1st December 2015 News and Views... School Captains After a very careful and thorough selection process we are proud to announce that Quin H and Maeve L are our School Captains for 2016. They will be supported by Oliver C and Sofia M who have successfully gained the positions of Vice-Captains. We are sure that all four students will be exceptional captains and also as role models for our community. It was a difficult decision as there were quite a number of worthy candidates. We would like to congratulate all of our students who applied for these roles. They took a risk in doing so and demonstrated good sportsmanship when they were unfortunately unsuccessful. We are proud of each and every student who took part in this process. Library Borrowing closed for 2015 We have now closed our library for borrowing for 2015. Please return all books by this Friday so that we can complete our stock-take. We will send a note home with the names of any missing books to those families of students who have borrowed them last so that they can be accounted for. Thank you. Premiers Reading Challenge Awards Congratulations to the recipients of this year s Premier s Reading Challenge Awards. We were very pleased to see how many students (including Preps) who completed the challenge and gained the Award at Assembly on Monday. Congratulations to you all! Wishing Tree Anne Mitchell from STEPS Outreach program came to speak to all the students and community at Assembly today. Together with Nick R and Lilly M, she spoke about the Wishing Tree Project that we participate in every year and how important it is to be aware of the homeless and those less fortunate than ourselves especially at Christmas. MDPS have participated in the project every year for the past few years and have donated many gifts which have been distributed to children less fortunate than ourselves just in time for Christmas. We look forward to doing so again this year. If you wish to contribute a gift please take a tag from our Christmas tree at the entrance to the school and purchase a gift suitable for that child. The final day for gifts to be left will be Friday 11 th December. Anne will then return to collect your kind contributions. What s in this issue?
