Semester Fall and Spring Fall: Aug. 20-Dec. 12 Spring: Jan. 18-May 14 Hours 24/5 Schedule: The Fall and Spring semester schedules shall begin on the first day of instruction as designated by the Registrar (smu.edu/registrar). The last day of both semesters is the last day of final exams. Mon - Thu 24 hours Close at 9pm 24-hour schedule resumes at 10am *South, West and North entrances lock at 9pm. No card swipe access. East and West Lobby entrances only access points to library by card swipe after 9pm until 7:30am. Fall and Spring Exceptions Fall: Aug. 20-Sept. 2 Spring: Jan. 18-Feb. 2 New Student Staff Training Period In order to accommodate student hiring and training, a reduced schedule will be followed the first two+ weeks of each semester. The exception will last two full calendar weeks starting on the first day of instruction of the Spring and Fall semesters. It always ends on a after a minimum of 9 weekdays. Mon - Thu 7:30am 12am 7:30am 9pm 10am 12am Fall: Nov. 25-Dec. 12 Spring: Apr. 28-May 14 Study Hall During Final Exams Period 24/7 In order to accommodate the large number of patrons using the library late at night and during finals, a 24/7 schedule will be followed. The library will begin a 24/7 schedule the of the week preceding the week containing the last day of instruction. For example, the last day of instruction in the Fall 2016 semester was Monday December 5 th, 2016. Study Hall began November 27 th, 2016. Fall: Dec. 12 Spring: May 14 Fall: Aug. 18-19 Spring: Does Not Apply Last Day of Final Exams The library will close at 9pm on the last day of final exams. The Intersession schedule will begin the following day. Weekend before First Day of Instruction If the first day of classes is a Monday or Tuesday, the library will be open that preceding weekend following regular Summer Hours. 10am 9pm

Spring Semester Exceptions Jan. 20-22 Sun. Jan. 20: 10a 12a Tue. Jan 22: 7:30a 12a Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend : Varies depending on whether the Spring semester has started or not. Follow Intersession schedule (closed) if not or Student Training (10am 12am) if classes have begun. Summer June 3 August 6 Summer Exceptions Summer Schedule The Summer Schedule shall begin in the First Day of Classes of the Full Summer Session. It will end on the last day of Full Summer Session or the last day of the Second Session, whichever is later. (smu.edu/registrar) Mon - Thu 8am 9pm 8am 6pm 12pm 6pm Fourth of July Holiday If the 4 th of July falls on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday 3 rd of July 8am 6pm 4 th of July 5 th of July Regular schedule resumes at 8am If the 4 th of July falls on a Monday Regular Schedule (12pm 6pm) Monday Tuesday Regular schedule resumes at 8am If the 4 th of July falls on Thursday 8am 6pm Regular schedule resumes at 10am Memorial Day Intersessions August 18: 8-17 January 19: 2-17 May 19: May 15-June 2 The library will close the Monday of Memorial Day. The before will follow Intersession if Summer classes have not begun or Summer if Summer classes have begun. January, May and August Intersessions Mon - Fri 8am 6pm Sat - Sun

Public Use Hours Home Football Games Games: Sept. 7: Close at 4p Nov. 16: Close at 9p Games: CLOSED Sept.22 Sept. 29 Oct. 27 Nov. 3 Additional Considerations All patrons without an SMU ID are allowed in Fondren Library during the regular semester at the following times. Mon Fri 7:30am 9pm 10am 9pm All patrons without an SMU ID are allowed to use the Library during Intersessions and Summers following those regular schedules. The library will be closed all s when there is a home football game. Regular hours will resume the following at 10am. On s with home games, the library will close at the appropriate time depending on kick-off time. Final determination will be made by the Director of Fondren Library A correction of hours should be submitted to Google at the following times: At the end of Intersession following the Spring semester, correct the hours to the Summer Schedule. At the end of the Intersession after Summer, correct the hours to 24/5. Significant changes to building hours should be communicated to all building tenants: Center for Teaching Excellence, IT, Starbucks.
