Staff members are encouraged to submit accolades that are worthy of the General s Star. Our staff and students strive for excellence on a daily basis. The comments listed below represent some of the recognition for our staff and students. STARS to Mr. Briggs. Ms. Flynn, Ms. Richmond, and Ms. Roth for leading the summer enrichment program for incoming students enrolled in algebra. I STARS to Mr. Briggs, Mr. Jackson, Mr. Olson, and Ms. Richmond for their efforts with AP Boot Camp. the first day of return. STARS to Ms. Culbertson on her appointment as assistant principal. STARS to Ms. Kline and our PTSA for providing bagels and smoothies for our faculty. STARS to the members of the social studies department for demonstrating flexibility. STARS to Ms. Bridges, Ms. Cannon, Ms. Merryfield, PPW, Ms. Samuels, fiscal assistant, and Ms. Peterson from central office, for providing training for our staff during our first week of return. P A G E 2 Welcome to the 2018-2019 academic year! It has been an absolute pleasure meeting many of you at our New Parent Orientation. The start to a new school year represents an exciting time. We reconnect with friends, welcome new opportunities, and extend an especially warm welcome to our students and parents that are new to our school. Our students and parents truly exemplify the excellence of Towson High School. We will continue to work together to foster an atmosphere that promotes academic excellence, positive involvement, and recognition of achievements. Working as a team, we will continue to ensure a positive and safe school environment where our students are challenged to perform at optimum levels and become responsible members of society. V O L U M E 6, I S S U E 1 P A G E 3 Mr. Bill Buick, who teaches Latin with Ms. Christine Turner here at Towson High School, was one of six presenters during the BCPS August 24 Professional Development Day for language teachers. Mr. Buick's presentation, "Art as Infographic," laid out a strategy for engaging language learners by introducing an authentic text through exploration of art based upon that text. Mr. Buick is pictured here with (left to right) presenters Persia Swift, Ahixa Espinal Maldonado, Dr. Jennifer Hernandez, Sarah Kirby, and Aimee Bogrand.

THS now offers an online method of purchasing your student s physical education uniform. There is a 4% charge and a $.35 flat fee to use the service. Just go to this website: https://osp.osmsinc.com/baltimorecountymd/ or simply go to the THS website and click the link! You may purchase a complete set - shirt and shorts - for $13.00. Or you may purchase each individual item. The shorts are $8.00 and the shirts are $5.00. You MUST put your student s P.E. teacher s name in the NOTES portion of Step 3 of 4 at Checkout.
