Coordinate the development and submission of program approval folios to the Florida Department of Education College of Education point of contact for Merit Scholars, University Honors, and Honors in the Major programs Member, 2007 and 2008 LiveText national conference proposal review panel 2001-2005 University of Central Florida (UCF) College of Education, Coordinator & Assistant to the Chair, Department of Teaching and Learning Principles: Assist Department Chair in managing one of the largest departments in the Florida State University System with 57 fulltime faculty members offering courses, graduate certificates, and undergraduate and graduate degrees in three major program areas: elementary/middle school education (elementary education, middle school mathematics, middle school science), secondary/post-secondary education and training (English language arts, mathematics, science, social science, sports & fitness, and technical education & industry training), and K-12 education (art, foreign language, music, physical education, and reading). Primary duties include: Coordinate all departmental activities related to continuing state program approval and National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) accreditation Monitor national and state policies and professional standards; coordinate program and curriculum revisions to keep pace with ongoing changes Oversee departmental institutional effectiveness (continuous quality improvement) activities and assist program faculty in the development and maintenance of institutional effectiveness plans Coordinate faculty searches for all faculty positions in the department (chaired in excess of 50 faculty searches from fall 2001 to fall 2005) Coordinate annual departmental and program updates to the UCF undergraduate and graduate catalogs Make clinical faculty assignments for supervision of student teachers in all programs in the department (typically 600+ student teachers in the fall and 700+ in the spring) Assist the Chair in recruiting and hiring qualified adjuncts Assist the Chair in monitoring and managing the departmental budget Assist the Chair in developing the departmental class schedule Design and maintain departmental databases on faculty assignments, budget, schedule, and faculty evaluation data (student evaluations of faculty) Assist the Chair in preparing the department s annual report to the Dean Conduct department-level student advising, both group and individual Coordinate annual departmental elections for faculty representatives to departmental and college standing committees College level responsibilities include: o Provide direct support to the Assistant Dean for Accreditation and Administration in the areas of state program approval, regional university accreditation, national accreditation of the teacher education unit, and continuous quality improvement of all programs in the college o Appointed by the Dean to oversee all NCATE accreditation and Florida Department of Education program approval evidence collection o Member, College Standards-based Performance Assessment Task Force o Member, College NCATE Standard 2 Committee o Member, College Divisional Review Committee (institutional effectiveness oversight committee) o Meet monthly with newly hired teachers in Orange County Public Schools to discuss certification and degree program offerings at UCF University level responsibilities include: o College of Education Representative, Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) Planning Team o College of Education Representative, University Undergraduate Teaching Equipment Committee

Position change resulted from College reorganization. 1999-2000 Orange County Public Schools, Orlando, Florida, Discovery Middle School: Exceptional Education Teacher: Developed and taught a self-contained, specific learning disabilities (SLD) class in 6 th grade social science (first time offered at this school). Co-taught inclusive 6 th grade mathematics and English classes. Served as a faculty mentor for a recently arrived, native Chinese speaking 6 th grade student with extremely limited English proficiency. 1996-1999 Orange County Public Schools, Orlando, Florida, Engelwood Elementary School: Exceptional Education Teacher: Taught self-contained SLD and varying exceptionalities classroom for grades 1-5 (2 years). Transitioned to a fully inclusive model for this population of special needs students and co-taught in numerous classrooms after implementation of the inclusive model (1 year). Served as Exceptional Education Team Leader and Chair of the Faculty Advisory Committee. 1995-1996 Orange County Public Schools, Orlando, Florida, Waterford Elementary School, Exceptional Education Teacher: Taught self-contained, 5 th grade SLD class. 1994-1995 Orange County Public Schools, Orlando, Florida, Substitute Teacher: Worked as a substitute teacher, all grade levels, for approximately one year while taking courses for teacher certification. 1993-1997 Private Business Owner 1972-1993 United States Air Force (highlights): (1991-1993) Training Squadron Commander, Defense Language Institute, Monterey, California: Responsible for all operational, logistics, and human resource management of a training squadron with a permanent staff of about 30 personnel and a student population averaging over 600 and ranging in rank from airmen to senior officers attending language training at the Defense Language Institute. (1987-1991) Planning, Programming and Budgeting Officer, Headquarters, USAF, The Pentagon, Washington, DC: One of two staff officers overseeing the Air Force s tactical intelligence budget with annual expenditures of approximately $700 million.
