ROGUE RIVER SCHOOL DISTRICT #35 GENERAL INFORMATION SHEET 2018-2019 FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL: TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 2018 The first day of school will be a full day. Breakfast and Lunch will be served. Rogue River Junior/Senior High School: (Grade 7-12) New Students and students in Grades 7 and 9 will begin September 4, 2018 All students will start on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 Rogue River Elementary School: (Grades K - 6) All students in Grades 1-6 will begin on September 5, 2015. All Kindergarten Students will begin on September 10, 2018. Soft Start for Kindergarten runs from September 4 th September 7 th, 2018 South Valley Academy (Grades 3-12) All students in Grades 3-12 will begin on September 4, 2018. SUPPLIES: School supply lists for Rogue River Elementary School Grades K-6 have been distributed to various merchants in the Rogue River and Grants Pass area or on the district website at http://www.rogueriver.k12.or.us under Parent and Student Resources. During the first week of school, Rogue River Junior/Senior High School teachers will provide Grades 7-12 students with a list of the required school supplies. IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS: All students must have their immunizations up to date. New students transferring into the district have a 30-day grace period to present an immunization record while student records are being transferred to this district. All entering kindergarten/first grade students must have their immunizations completed by the first day of school. Each student must have a complete immunization record and proof of residence when registering. In addition, kindergarten and first grade students must have their birth certificate and be five years old on September 1, for kindergarten and six years old on September 1, for first grade. Class assignment lists will also be posted during this week. There will be no school for kindergarten students on the first four days (September 4 th -10 th, 2018) to facilitate the Soft-Start orientation and assessment program for all kindergarten students. Kindergarten Schedule Rogue River Elementary School has a full day kindergarten program. All kindergarten students and their parents will participate in a kindergarten Soft-Start orientation and assessment program beginning September 4 th through September 10 th. Soft Start appointments will last approximately 45 minutes and will include time for a variety of student assessments monitored by support staff. Kindergarten Teachers June Safko, Mikayla Luttrell and Sarah Collins will spend this time orienting parents about the full day kindergarten program. Appointment times are throughout the school day beginning Tuesday, so please make sure you call soon to reserve your appointment. The first full day of classes for all kindergarten students will be Monday, September 10, 2018. Please call RRES at 541-582-3234 to schedule your Soft Start appointment.

2018-2019 Information Sheet - Page 3 SOUTH VALLEY ACADEMY (Grades 3-12) Students may register for classes, on Monday, August 20 th from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (office will be closed from Noon- 1:00 PM) and Tuesday,, August 21 st from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM (office will be closed from 4:00-5:00 PM). Students and parent(s)/guardian(s)will need to bring a copy of the students immunization record, birth certificate, name and address of previous school, proof of residence and a copy of their last report card. Students wishing to participate in middle school or high school extra curricular activities including athletics must meet the requirements for participation as set by the Rogue River Jr/Sr High School. Student Athletes can sign up for fall sports at Rogue River Jr/Sr High School during registration starting August 20 th. ROGUE RIVER JUNIOR/SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL (Grades 7-12) New and returning students may register for classes, pay fees and receive their lockers on Monday, August 20 th from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (office will be closed from Noon-1:00 PM) and Tuesday,, August 21 st from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM (office will be closed from 4:00-5:00 PM). New students only will be able to register Wednesday, August 22 nd from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (office will be closed from Noon-1:00 PM). 2018-2019 Information Sheet - Page 4 Senior High School Athletic Fees Each athlete is required to pay a user fee of $100 per sport, per season (a season is defined as fall, winter, or spring). There will be a $225 cap, per family, per season. Athletes will follow the Rogue River Junior/Senior High School Athletic Code of Conduct. OSAA rules and policies will apply to Senior High School Student athletes. 50% of the $100 sport s fee is required 1 week prior to the first contest of the season. The remaining 50% will be paid 1 month prior to the end of the regular season. All fees collected into the appropriate club accounts. Families of the Rogue River Junior/Senior High School students with more than one athlete participating in one season will receive a $35 discount. A family will have a cap of $225 per season for three or more athletes participating in a single season. There may be a fee for students who do not attend Rogue River Junior/Senior High School. Student financial assistance is available. Please pick up an application form in the main office before practice begins next school year. In-kind work in lieu of fees is available. Please see the Athletic Director. Athlete Requirements: All Junior/Senior High School Athletes must have the following forms filled out and returned to coaches BEFORE they can practice or participate. 1) Proof of insurance 2) A signed Athletic Code of Conduct 3) Activity/emergency medical authorization forms 4) Sports physical (good for two years) 5) Prior season s sport fees must be paid Sports Eligibility Requirements: An athlete must meet all eligibility requirements of the Rogue River School District and the Oregon Schools Athletic Association. OSAA requires that a student must have passed at least five (5) classes in the previous quarter to be eligible to participate or compete. In addition to the minimum standards established by the OSAA, Rogue River student-athletes must pass 6 of the 7 classes each quarter to remain eligible and on track to graduate in 4 years. In addition, the student must be making satisfactory progress towards graduation as defined by the OSAA. Early graduates are not eligible to participate in spring sports due to his/her lack of enrollment in classes. No Pass-No Play Grades are reviewed at the issuance of the mid-quarter progress report and at the final report card of the quarter. Should a student fail more than one class at the mid-quarter reporting period, they will be ineligible until they can show proof of passing all classes. Should a student fail more than 1 class at the conclusion of a quarterly grading period, they have 5 days to work with the teacher to complete any work in-progress that may improve a failing grade. If at the end of the 5 days the student is not passing at least 6 of the 7 classes, they are ineligible until issuance of mid-quarter progress reports for the following quarter. Attendance: An athlete must be present the entire day of a scheduled athletic event or practice to be eligible. If the contest is on a non-school day, athletes are required to be in school a full day the day of school prior to the contest to be eligible to play. A student more than 10 minutes late to class is considered absent. The athletic director or principal must approve any extenuating circumstance. Appointments must be cleared in advance through the athletic director or principal.

2018-2019 Information Sheet - Page 5 Schedules: A schedule will be provided to you by the coach at the beginning of the season. Schedules are also located online at www.osaa.org. Transportation: An athlete shall ride school transportation to and from contests unless their parent or guardian requests they return with them in writing (coach will have transportation release forms). Students may only be released from school transportation to their parent or guardian. Returning Equipment: Athletes must return all uniforms and equipment owned and issued by the Rogue River School District immediately after the conclusion of the season or be held financially responsible. The end of the season is defined as the last game date of the season. All post season awards will be suspended until return of equipment.
