Tickets can be purchased through ParentPay from January 9 th. Early booking is recommended as it is unlikely that there will be many tickets available on the door so please book ahead to avoid disappointment. Ticket prices: Concessions 7 / Adult 10, please print off the receipt and bring to the school reception to choose seats and collect tickets. Ms Wickens, Head of Music KS3 Autumn Progress Reports Year 9 Progress Reports were distributed via students on the last day of the Autumn Term. If you have not yet received a copy from your child, please email me at sryan@ephs.ealing.sch.uk to request a copy. Yr7 Reports will hopefully be distributed at the end of next week, and Yr8 Reports will be available to collect at Parents Evening. Mr Ryan, SIMS & Data Manager Year 8 Parents Consultation Our consultation evening for parents and carers of Year 8 students will take place on Wednesday 17 th January 2018 from 4:30pm until 7:30pm in the school hall and library. The evening will give you an opportunity to discuss your child s progress with subject staff and your child s Form Tutor. Ms Borde, Head of Year 8 Berlin Residential 2018 Thank you to all that have paid the various instalments for the Berlin Trip. Just a reminder of the payment schedule for the Berlin Trip. Elthorne Park High School Newsletter 4 th January 2018 Parents Consultation Evenings Year 12/13 Wednesday 31 st January Year 7 Wednesday 21 st March Year 10 Wednesday 28th February Year 9 Wednesday 25 th April Key Stage 4 - PiXL English and Maths apps All students in Year 10 and Year 11 have access to two apps English Literature and Maths to support revision at home. To access these apps: type in the school id (EP4313), first initial and surname and a password (English app is english and Maths app is maths) which is shown below. These apps can also be used regularly for home learning to support understanding of topics covered in the classroom by the teacher. Ms Hagel, KS4 Achievement Co-ordinator Science Revision Classes The targeted Science revision classes will begin on Wednesday 10 th January 2018 for between 30 minutes and 1 hour for 5 weeks. They will take place directly after the student s period 5 science lesson and the students will be registered for the afternoon session there. Each student will receive an individual letter outlining which session they are to attend, which will be based on the areas in need of development identified in their progress exams and PPEs. These sessions will focus on consolidation of topics that were studied in Year 10, there will be other sessions to revise the Year 11 content closer to the Summer Examination period. If you have any questions regarding these sessions please do not hesitate to contact me. Ms Tamplin, KS4 Science Co-ordinator Year 11 GCSE History Trip The History department are organising a Year 11 GCSE History trip to Whitechapel and Spitalfields on Wednesday 7 th February 2018. The purpose of the visit is to support the student s study of Unit 1 Crime and Punishment through Time: The Historic Environment of Whitechapel. There is a small cost of 7.10 attached to this visit, to be paid through ParentPay. The deadline for payment is Wednesday 20 th December 2017. If you have problems with ParentPay, please contact Ms Patel in our Finance Department. If you have not completed the annual Consent Form for School Visit and Other Off-Site Activities form (SVO) for 2017-2018, then please ensure that you complete a copy of the form as soon as possible and hand the form in to reception. MUSIC INSTRUMENTAL & THEORY TUITION JANUARY 2018 JULY 2018 Dear Parent/Carer, Elthorne Park High School offers an excellent music tuition program and we highly encourage all students to participate in this program if possible. There are a total of 30 lessons across the academic year split into 2 halves. Students can study instrument(s) privately with a specialist teacher. Tuition is available during school time on a timetabled rota for the following instruments: Theory Voice Piano Classical Piano Jazz Steel Pans Drum kit Guitar Classical Guitar Electric Guitar Ukulele Bass Guitar Strings: Violin Strings: Viola Strings: Cello Strings: Double Bass Woodwind: Flute Woodwind: Clarinet Woodwind: Saxophone Woodwind: Oboe Woodwind: Bassoon Brass: Trumpet Brass: French Horn Brass: Trombone Brass: Tuba Fees for 15 lessons (January 2018-July 2018): Shared 30 minute lesson (Not recommended for piano or brass instruments) 116.25 Individual 30 minute lesson 232.50 Concession prices for free school meal students are available. Please contact the school to apply at finance.admin@ephs.ealing.sch.uk or call the finance department. We recommend that students take individual lessons to make good progress. If your child is taking or is interested in taking GCSE/A level music, theory lessons are essential. Final Deadline for payments/forms: Friday February 2nd 2018. There will be a late payment charge of 20 for all students who were already enrolled. 1. Please complete the attached form and return it to the school. Please make sure you read the terms and conditions and sign the form where indicated. 2. Payments are to be made on ParentPay. Please find your ParentPay login details in your starter pack. Give ABRSM grade if applicable: Individual 30 min Shared 30 Min (We recommend that piano and brass students have 30-minute individual lessons) I give permission for my son/daughter to receive Instrumental Tuition at Elthorne Park High School and understand that I am responsible for any fees incurred. I understand that if another student is not available to share a lesson then my son/daughter will receive individual 15-minute lessons. In this case we recommend that your child take individual 30-minute lessons, as not much progress can be made in such a short time slot. Parent Email: Contact Telephone No: Terms and conditions until further notice 1. LESSON TIMES: All individual lessons are 30 minutes. Shared lessons are for 30 minutes unless there is no other student available to share the lesson when the lesson will be for 15 minutes. We recommend all students to take 30-minute individual lessons to ensure good progress. 2. FEES: Fees are not refundable and must be paid for in advance. Refunds are not given for illness or forgetfulness. 3. ATTENDANCE: it is the student s/parent s responsibility to check the notice board outside the music office and emailed timetables to confirm their lesson time. In the case of a peripatetic teacher being absent, students will receive a credit towards a replacement lesson during the same term. The Head of Music will agree this. If you know your child is going to be absent due to an event, medical appointment or school examination, the child should rearrange the lesson time with the instrumental teacher and inform the Head of Music via email or in writing at least 48 hours before the lesson. 4. If you wish to stop instrumental lessons you must notify your music teacher and the head of music, Ms. Wickens. We require 4 weeks notice before the start of the next term, to cancel lessons. Failure to do this will still make parents/guardians liable for payment of the lesson fees. 5. INSURANCE: It is the parents/guardians responsibility to insure the student s instrument. The school is not responsible for damage, theft or repair of instruments. Students leave instruments at their own risk. This applies to privately owned instruments and those provided by a private instrumental rental scheme. Students must put their instruments in a locker and take their instrument back home on the day of their lesson. 6. All students will receive a practice log diary. We ask that you ensure your child brings this to and from each lesson and uses it for home learning. 7. All students should label their instrument cases with their full name for identification purposes. 8. All students should sign in at front reception if their lesson time is during am or pm registration. 9.
