2018 NCACC Youth Voice The ninth annual Youth Voice was held on August 24-25. 2018 in Hickory, NC, On Friday the delegates participated in the Real Colors Personality session. Youth learned quickly about their individual color. No matter what color you are we all have an important part in work, school, and in life. This activity showed delegates how to communicate more effectively and build better relationships, by recognizing other peoples strengths and weakness. On Saturday morning the delegates enjoyed the Youth Involvement Breakfast with the county officials and youth delegates. In the afternoon session, Bottom Line each youth designed a county budget for their community. Attendees worked together in small groups to decide what values were important to their counties. The youth had to make tough decisions just like a County Commissioner has to make. Some things they had to choose between included cutting different programs/events or increasing taxes in order to balance the budget. We ended the event by attending the annual NCACC Business Session, where a few delegates spoke about lessons learned. A HUGE thank you to the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners for sponsoring this annual event for North Carolina 4-H'ers!
