Animation and Multimedia department of Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra : Ranchi, Noida campus organised a three days International Conference on Emerging Multimedia Technology for Social Equity and Empowerment from 16th to 18th March 2017. It was sponsored by SERB, Govt of India and supported by Kent State University, Ohio, USA, Kiran Nadar Museum of Art, wacom India and PSSAMTEK Media Ltd. On inaugural day, Prof ( Dr) Todd Diacon, Provost, Kent State University, USA was the Chief Guest, Prof (Dr) Marcello Fantoni, Associate Provost, Office of Global Education (OGE), Kent State University was Guest of Honour. The Indian delegation would included Prof Y Narasimhulu, Vice Chancellor, Rayalaseema University, Kurnool, Hyderabad, Sh. Chander Mohan, Scientist G & Advisor, Head Science & Societal Mission, CEO Science Express, Ministry of Science & Techology (DST), GoI, Sh Bhuvan Bhatt, Scientist G, Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, GoI, Mr. Manu Nanda, President & MD, Wacom India, Smt. Archita Bhatto, Chief Editor, DBT Cell, Vigyan Prasar, Prof Ranjan De, HOD, State Institute of Design, State Univ of Performing & Visual Arts, Rohtak discussed various points related to the theme of the conference. Third day, researchers, academicians from BIT Jaipur, Noida, Jamia,etc. And from industry presented their research papers on various themes related to Multimedia. Director of the institute Prof. Munish Makkad, Conference convener Associate professor Dr Suparna Dutta, co-convener Mr. Niket Mehta, welcomed the chief guest Shri Aman Rajput, deputy director, directorate of Air Logistics support, Ministry of Defense. Mr. Rajput appreciated the animation and Multimedia scholars and motivated them to keep doing honest work and contribute in social development. Later students short film competition result was declared. Team BLINK from BIT Jaipur won the prize. It was a great day for Multimedia scholars, professionals and aspirants. Post conference, the organisers of the conference will come with a book which will comprise of writings from expert panelists and a proceeding which will comprise of papers presented by various scholars in this conference. Wacom India Limited organised Create a Super Hero Contest for BIT Noida and Jaipur students during this conference.

Workshop on Virtual Reality Mr. Ankit Choudhary - an expert from Mumbai conducted a workshop on Virtual Reality on 4th Feb. 2017.Mr. Clevedon Coach of Brazilian football team under 17 and Nigerian football player Bala Ali Hasan Dahir also graced the occasion. They too explored the possibilities of animation and multimedia in football game. Ms. Babita Biswas of Briatosh announced a football championship and conducted a Digital painting and compositing competition on the theme of bird - the great Indian bustered. Their film "Progress in Distress" made under guidance of Dr. Suparna Dutta was well appreciated by audience A team of students of B.Sc. A & M vi sem under guidance of Mr. Lalit Bhatt, made a short film The Health Crusaders which was showcased at 7th National Science Film Festival in Kolkata 70 Years of India's Independence Celebrations
