Willowbrook High School Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2014 Inductees Richard Scorza Class of 1966 During his four years at Willowbrook, Rich earned two Varsity Letters in Gymnastics and three Varsity Letters in Track. He was a member of the 1964 State Championship Gymnastics Team; the first State Championship in school history. In 1966, Rich won the IHSA State Championship in the Horizontal Bar as well as taking 2nd place in the All-Around. While at the University of Iowa he won the USGF National Championship in Vaulting. That same year, 1968, he qualified and participated at the Olympic Trials. While at the University of Iowa, Rich was a member of the 1969 National Championship Team going on to earn All-American status in several events in 1970. Andy Preuss Class of 1975 In 1974 & 1975, Andy was a Conference Champion in the High Jump as well as a State Qualifier in the High Jump, placing 2nd at the IHSA State Meet in 1975. Also in 1975, Andy was selected to represent the State of Illinois High School Track Team that competed in Europe. While at Illinois State University, Andy was the High Jump Conference Champion in 1978 and earned 4 letters in Track. In 1979, Andy was named the Howard Hancock IHAPERD Student/Athlete of the Year at Illinois State University. As a Coach at Glenbard South High School, Andy led 9 Cross Country Teams to the IHSA State Meet and in 2001 his team became the State Cross Country Champions. In 2008, Andy was inducted into the ITCCA Hall of Fame. Roy Sparks Class of 1982 Roy was an eight-time Individual Indoor and Outdoor Conference Champion in 1982 in the 50 Meter Dash, 300 Meter Dash, 55 Meter High Hurdles, 55 Meter Low Hurdles, 110 High Hurdles, 100 Meter Dash and 200 Meter Dash. Also in 1982, he finished 3rd at the IHSA State Meet in the 110 High Hurdles and finishing 6th in the 330 Low Hurdles earning All State Distinction in both events. Also in 1982 he was voted the Willowbrook Most Outstanding Athlete by the students, and won the Willowbrook MVP Booster Award. In 1983 while at College of DuPage, Roy was awarded an All-American Honorable Mention in the Mile Relay. In 1984, Roy was a member of the Western Illinois Track Team.
Timothy Daly Class of 2000 Tim was a two-time WSC All Conference Player in Football and a three-time WSC All Conference Wrestler. Additionally, Tim was an individual two-time Regional Champion as well as a Sectional Champion in Wrestling. While at Willowbrook, Tim was twice named an Academic All-Conference Athlete. After qualifying to compete in the IHSA State Individual Wrestling Meet, Tim was a two-time Runner Up. During college, Tim was a three-time letter winner at the University of Chicago. Tramell Smith Class of 2002 While at Willowbrook, Tramell was a four-time Letter Winner in Track and Field, and a two-time Letter Winner in Football. Additionally, Tramell earned All Conference Athlete status 17 times in Track and Field with three All State Track and Field Athlete distinctions and the State Champion in the 800 Meters. At the University of Illinois in 2004 he placed 3rd in the 800 Meter Run at the Big Ten Championships and earned 2nd Team All Big Ten Honors during the Indoor and Outdoor Season. In 2005, Tramell was the Big Ten Indoor Champion in the 800 Meters and in 2006 he qualified for the NCAA Championships in the Indoor 800 Meters. Chuck Rossetti Head Wrestling Coach Chuck was the Head Wrestling Coach at Willowbrook from 1979-2001, during which time his teams earned Five Conference Championships, Three Regional Championships and One Sectional Championship. In the 1998-1999 season, him team finished 16th in the Nation with a 26-1 record. Chuck was named the Illinois Wrestling Coach of the Year in 1999 and in 2001 he was inducted into the Illinois Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame. 1998 Girls Badminton Team IHSA State Champions This Championship team was led to victory by Head Coach Al Loew (Willowbrook Athletic Hall of Fame 2011 Inductee) and Assistant Coach John Brander. Members of that team are:melissa Carlson, Katie Carlton Oster, Jennifer Dorn May, Rose Gilles Marotz, Val Hornback Magnussen, Andrea Luna Ellexson, Lynette Steinhauser, Amy Kruis Stephensen, Erin Vandevelde, Katie Vegter Guimon and Erica Verpaele Mix.
