Galatians 3:26-27 Chapel - Join us for chapel on Wednesday at 8:20 a.m. All are welcome! Our chapel offerings for October and November will help support Lutheran Bible Translators, specifically for Michael Ersland, who is living and working in Ghana as the translation advisor for the Komba Old Testament translation project. So far, we have received $115.58. AN INVITATION TO VETERANS AND CURRENTLY SERVING MILITARY PERSONNEL We would be honored to have you as our special guests on November 8th at 8:20 a.m., for a Veterans Day Assembly. We would like to recognize and thank all who have served our country. For families with members currently serving, we are asking for photos of your loved ones in uniform for a slide show. Please label with their name. Please send in or email as soon as possible by Nov. 3rd, to kwallace@holycrosslutheran.net What s Cool in School The preschool enjoyed a visit from the Fire Department. Kindergarten has been studying about Mexico and broke a Piñata outside on the church lawn, Friday. First grade made a model of a community, it is displayed in the hallway. Third grade skyped and found out information about manatees. Fourth Grade hosted a Heritage Fair and enjoyed going on a field trip to Abilene. Fifth grade has some beautiful leaf books completed. Thanks Thank you to the cheerleaders and parents for supporting the concession stand at Trunk or Treat Thank you to everyone who came and participated in Trunk or Treat. Thank you to all of the parents who brought their children to perform the Luther skit in three church services this weekend. Fifth-Seventh Grade Parents There will be an informational meeting regarding our 8th grade Washington D.C. trips, on November 1, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. in the Library. Guidelines for fundraising and general information will be shared. Please come! School will be closed on Friday, November 10th in observance of Veterans Day. Dress code reminder Students may not wear shorts to school as of November 1st. Shorts may be worn again in April and May. Page 2 STUCO MIDDLE SCHOOL DANCE IS THIS FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 3RD Friday, November 3rd is the first STUCO dance of the year. Dances are for Holy Cross students in 6th 8th grades. The dance is from 7:00-9:00 p.m., in the Commons. The theme is sports. Free dress rules apply. The 6th graders need to be picked up at 9:15 p.m. since they have clean-up. Our dances are fun! The DJ is our own band director, Mr. Cheray. He plays appropriate music and plans fun activities for the students. Cell phone reminder: Since the dance is school sponsored, students who need to have a cell phone for activities following the dance need to keep them off during the dance. The bus will load at 9:10 a.m. SPIRIT NIGHT AT CHICK-FIL-A ON NOVEMBER 7TH Join us at Chick-fil-A on Tuesday, November 7th from 5:30-7:30 p.m. They are located at Central & Rock Rd. Tell them you are from Holy Cross and 20% of our sales will come back to our school. IT S TIME FOR OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD Would you like to bless a needy child in another country with a gift that will bring a smile to their face as well as share the Gospel? Consider packing a shoebox gift for Operation Christmas Child. Information brochures and empty shoeboxes can be found at the display in the Narthex (entryway to the Church). Some classes participate in this as a service project. Students may bring boxes to chapel on November 15th. It costs $9 to ship each box. Donations can be included w ith the box or made online at www.samaritanspurse.org/occ. The fourth grade class will deliver the boxes to the collection site on November 15th. THE WILD WEST BOOK FAIR IS COMING SOON! Mark your calendars for November 11-19 for our Scholastic Book Fair. It will be open in the Fellowship Hall before and after church services on November 11th &12th and 18th & 19th and various times throughout the week in between. Please visit our Book Fair homepage, http://www.scholastic.com/bf/holycrosslutheranschool5, to find out specific days and times the fair will be open, to volunteer to help with the fair, or to access our online book sale. There is also a paper sign-up sheet posted outside the school office for volunteers who prefer to sign up that way. We will also be participating in the All for Books program this time with a lollipop pull. Proceeds will benefit Cross Point Christian School in Katy, TX. This is a Lutheran school that has been set up as a distribution site for hurricane relief in the Houston area. We will be sending them books that will be distributed to schools and families to help replenish libraries that were lost due to the effects of the recent hurricane.
