Graduation Ceremony Tuesday, May 29 @ 7:00 P.M. Graduates arrive @ 6:00 P.M. LWN Dressy Attire Dresses, dress shoes Dress pants, dress shirt, dress shoes Both graduates and audience members will find that high-heeled shoes are difficult to walk in and may be dangerous. Caps and gowns with graduation ribbon Absolutely NO shorts, flip-flops, gym shoes, jeans, sweats or t - shirts. Students will not be included in the ceremony if students are not dressed appropriately Filmed (DVD for optional purchase)

Ceremony Etiquette Many families see graduation as a rite of passage and celebration worthy of recognition Corsage or boutonnière prior to the graduation ceremony NOT necessary Flowers are okay AFTER the ceremony No use of cell phones, cameras, ipods, Kindle, etc. Balloons are an at home gift Parents and guests may not stand along side or behind the graduate seating. Please do not use artificial noise makers such as horns or whistles that interfere with the reading of names during the ceremony

Participation in end of the year activities All end of the year activities (banquet, trip, awards ceremony, picnic and graduation ceremony) are privileges Determined on a case-by-case basis Students and parents are informed each step of the way No surprises Disciplinary consequences, attendance issues, and poor grades determine participation

Graduation Tickets 460 graduates 6 tickets are given (4 gray and 2 green) Tickets are given per family Ceremony is held in the main gym Live feed from gym to the auditorium Each person entering the ceremony must have a ticket Parking at a premium

February 2012 To the Parents of the Graduates of 2012, On behalf of the faculty and staff of Summit Hill Junior High, I extend my congratulations to the students and parents of this year s graduating class. The following details will assist you in planning for upcoming events in the months ahead. Graduation cap and gown colors are green and white, boys wearing green gowns, girls wearing white gowns. All graduation fees and other outstanding fees must be paid before a student will receive their cap and gown. Students will receive their cap and gown at the first graduation practice on Tuesday, May 22, 2012. Cherry Hill Photography will be taking a class picture of students in their gowns on May 22, 2012. If purchased, these will be sent home with the student on May 29, 2012. The class banquet will be held at CD & Me Banquets 23320 S. LaGrange Rd, Frankfort on May 22, 2012 from 6:00PM until 8:30PM. Parents, this is not a formal affair. Prom style dresses, or tuxedos are not permitted. As per our appearance code girl s dresses must meet fingertip rule length and must include straps. Necklines must be three inches from the collarbone and must not expose cleavage. A nice shirt and tie and pair of dress pants would be appropriate for the boys. Jeans, t-shirts, sweatshirts, gym shoes, etc. are unacceptable attire. Students not dressed appropriate for the occasion will not be allowed to attend. Transportation will be provided to the banquet. Students are allowed to arrive and depart to the banquet only by the transportation that is provided through the school. Students arriving in personal vehicles will not be allowed to enter the banquet. Students will not be allowed to leave the banquet in personal vehicles as well. Parents/students will be required to complete and return the transportation form indicating where the student will be picked up and dropped off. Students should arrive at their pick-up and drop-off school destination by 5:15 PM. Students may not walk home from SHJH or Walker school unless accompanied by an adult. Refer to the handout to select location of the pick-up and drop-off school. The class trip is scheduled for May 24, 2012. Students will be visiting Great America in Gurnee, Illinois. Students must report to school at the regular school time. Buses will leave the junior high promptly at 8:15AM and return at approximately 8:00PM. If students are bringing their Great America season pass with them the cost for the bus transportation will be $15.00. Students may not walk home from SHJH School unless accompanied by an adult. Graduation is set for May 29, 2012 at 7:00PM at Lincoln-Way North High School in the gym. Students are to arrive at 6:00PM and report to their destination area as assigned at graduation practice and receive their ribbons. Students will then line up in proper order to receive any last minute instructions. Each family will receive four (4) gray tickets and two (2) green tickets. Gray tickets are for gymnasium seating and green tickets are for auditorium seating for the live feed. Each person entering either location (except the graduate) the evening of graduation must present a ticket. (continued on back) A graduation DVD will be taken by The Sterling Group. This will include music, pictures of school activities and the graduation ceremony. If purchased, the DVD will be available for pick up at Lincoln- Way North High School in August. If your student is not attending LWN please indicate that information on the payment form. Cherry Hill Studios will be on site to take a photograph of your child receiving his/her diploma. This will be a 5 x 7 photo, and if purchased, will be mailed to your home.

Please fill out the attached Graduation Payment Form and return it with your payment, in an envelope, to the Summit Hill Junior High office. PAYMENT DUE ON OR BEFORE March 9, 2012 Please make checks payable to: SUMMIT HILL JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL PLEASE NOTE: All LOST BOOK FEES, LOST ATHLETIC UNIFORM FEES, REGISTRATION FEES, GRADUATION FEES, or other outstanding fees must be paid for a student to be eligible to participate in the GRADUATION CEREMONY. Student participation in the end of the year events such as 8 th GRADE PICNIC, BANQUET, GREAT AMERICA and the GRADUATION CEREMONY, are considered a privilege. Students that accumulate numerous disciplinary infractions will lose the privilege of participating in these activities. Students must have a qualifying GPA of 1.75 and must be passing all classes, and must also meet the cumulative attendance requirement in order to participate in any of the activities as well.
