The essential purpose is to inform, engage, inspire and entertain a diverse readership about the College and its people. This newsletter will serve to reinforce and allow increased awareness, improved interaction and integration among all of us. EVENTS 5 th January 2017 Workshop The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering arranged a workshop ELECTRIFIX for School Students. The students are trained in the basic skills needed for house hold electrical systems. 40 students from Marthoma Matriculation School came along with two teaching staff and benefitted from this program. 6 th January, 2017 Seminar The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized a Technical seminar on Recent Trends in Power Systems and Power Electronics for the 2 nd year and 3 rd year students. Mr. K. Vivekandan and Mr. S. Gladwin Nirmal Raj from PLC Technologies, Chennai and ISE, Chennai shared their knowledge. 7 th January, 2017 New Year Celebration Great opportunities can make the successful person. In view of this, the Department of Sciences and Humanities begins this New Year with new beginning of giving opportunities to the students. The Inauguration of New Year Celebration started with the formal assembly which is well organised by first year ECE Class Students. Abinaya of I ECE presented presentation on helping attitude. Dr. Suresh Mohankumar, Dean, DMICE delivered his presidential address and he stressed upon the importance of making use of opportunities in the campus. After the assembly, Mr. Antony Valan, Placement Officer, DMICE oriented the students on Interpersonal Skills and Soft Skills. He clearly pointed out the importance of having good communication skills to achieve excellence. Mr. J. Aungston, AP, English thanked the speakers for their well part in orienting the mind of the students. Mr. P.L Joseph Raj, Head, S&H introduced the events like Singing, Drawing, Cooking (Without Fire & Power) and Art from Waste. The valediction ended

with thanking the dignitaries and a cake was cut by the dignitaries along with the student representatives in the sign of new beginning. At the end, all the students were distributed a cake and juice by the volunteers. 7 th January, 2017 Seminar The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering conducted a Technical Seminar for the 2 nd year and 3 rd year students on Power System. Mr. R. Narayanan, Vice-Principal from CPDTI shared his knowledge.

7 th January, 2017 Seminar The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering arranged seminar in CADD for the 3 rd and 2 nd year students. The resource person from CADD School, Vadapalani gave valuable inputs on the uses of CAD in real life and students benefited from their knowledge. 7 th January, 2017 Workshop The Department of Civil Engineering organized a Workshop on 3D MODELLING AND PRINTING by Mr. Balasubramaniyam, Branch manager, Diagonal CADD. He gave a deep lecture on the usage of software for designing purpose and the scope of this in the present scenario. It was a great knowledgable program for our students to improve their technical skill.

7 th January, 2017 Industrial Visit The Department of Civil Engineering arranged an Industrial Visit for second year students to A CONSTRUCTION SITE NEAR GUDUVANCHERI. From this visit, the students gained a lot of knowledge about selection of site for residential building and provision of economical aesthetics and safety homes with the technology of recycling and reuse of waste water. 7 th January, 2017 Tree Plantation The Department of computer science and engineering organized a tree plantation programme at DMICE.

7 th January, 2017 Pongal Celebration The Department of computer science and engineering celebrated a Pongal festival and Rangoli Contest for the second and third students. 9 th January, 2017 Industrial Visit The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized an Industrial Visit for the Second year students to NCTPS, Minjur, Chennai. The students learnt operational structure of the Thermal Power Plant. 10 th January, 2017 Industrial Visit The Department of Mechanical Engineering arranged Industrial Visit for third year students to Baapaa Engineering Works, Ambattur Industrial Estate. Students were

splitted into 2 batches and they visited the company. This trip made the students to gain technical knowledge. 12 th January, 2017 Guest Lecture The Department of Computer Science and Engineering conducted a Guest Lecture for II year students on Microprocessor and Microcontroller by Dr. EWINS HELAN PUSHPA from MIT. She explained about 8086 Microprocessor and I/O bus structure. Students got a clear idea about the topics. 13 th January, 2017 Pongal Celebration The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering celebrated Pongal with the students and the staff members. The priest blessed the pongal and it was shared among the gathering in a festive manner in the College grounds. Later fine arts competitions for the students of EEE departments to encourage their skills and talents. Over 20 students attended of whom the first three talents were recognized by the panel.

27 th January, 2017 Guest Lecture The Department of Computer Science and Engineering conducted a Guest Lecture for II year students on Computer Networks by Dr. S. Ganapathy from VIT. The students got a clear idea about Fundamentals of Computer networks, Internet working, Routing. 27 January, 2017 Industrial Visit The Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized an Industrial Visit to All India Radio, Mylapore for third year students. Students got a clear about the organization, industrial process, system and facilities which will helped them to improve their knowledge.

31 st January, 2017 Guest Lecture The Department of Computer Science and Engineering conducted a Guest Lecture for IV year students on Multicore Architecture by Ms.N.Revathy, Associate professor from SVCE. She explained about parallel program challenges. Students got a clear idea about the topics. 31 st January, 2017 Guest Lecture The Department of Civil Engineering conducted Guest lecture on Concrete Technology by Mr. Arivu Sudhar, Assistant Engineer, RMC plant-bangalore. He gave a deep lecture on the procedure for handling concrete and different types of materials used. It was a great knowledgable program for our students to improve their knowledge on the RMC technology.

31 st January, 2017 Department Assembly The Department of computer science and engineering conducted an assembly where Sr.Hamlet, Administrator gave the certificates to the students with-100% Attendance, and the sister honoured the students by giving the prizes to the various academic and non academic activities like Pongal III A, RANGOLI CONTEST III B, CONSOLIDATE PRIZE- II B, Debate - Alvin Mascrene II A, Adzap- Yuvarani, shermylaarthy, selvi, stella. HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT CELL (HRDC) 10 th January, 2017 Tech Mahindra The eligible students of CSE, IT, EEE, ECE, Mech and Civil attended the placement drive. Nearly 280 eligible students had attended the interview from 3 colleges (DMI College of Engineering, Loyola Institute of Technology & St. Joseph's College of Engineering) and 47 students got selected. Tech Mahindra The eligible engineering students of Passed out 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 attended the off campus drive. Nearly 513 students participated. The HR gave presentation and explains job profile to participants.

9 th January, 2017 CSS CORP The eligible students from EEE, ECE, Mech, Civil, IT, CSE attended the Placement Drive. Nearly 80 Eligible students attended the drive and 5 students got shortlisted. 18 th January, 2017 OFS The shortlisted students have attended the final round of interview in OFS premises. 20 th to 22 nd January, 2017 Training for Final year students Skill enhancement training was given for final year students. The trainers came from industries and trained the students and students got benefited from this program. HOME THEY BROUGHT LAURELS Mr.Edson Frainlair, Mr.Anbuselvan, Mr.Karthika, final year CSE students presented a paper on SELF MOTE and the paper got selected by Anna University Daimler Mobile APP Garage Contest at Rajalakshmi Engineering College. STAFF PARTICIPATION Ms. G.Bhuvaneswari, Associate Professor/CSE submitted Project to Chief Minister s Award for Tamil Software on 31-1-2017. Dr.A.UmaMageswari, Rev Sr.I Arokiya Mary,Mr. C.S. Somu,Mr.Balaji published a paper Integrated Secure Medical Image Transfer Framework in an International Journal of Printing and Packaging and Allied Sciences (Annexure-1).
