It was a great chance for tired students to re-energise themselves to complete the term. The staff, however worked very hard on developing learning sequences from the Victorian Curriculum in all areas of English and Mathematics. This work will be seen in tailoring student learning goals and pathways to meet student learning needs and increase students individual achievement in these subject areas. We delved into the characteristics of being a high performing teacher in a high performing school which research shows has an impact on positive student wellbeing and academic achievement. Upcoming Events We have the following events happening over the next three weeks and we hope parents will come along to enjoy them. Monday 19 th March - Student Leaders Badge Presentation at assembly 9am Wednesday 21 st March - Harmony Day Performance and lunch 11.30am 1pm Monday 26 th March - Selected Mad On Music students performing at assembly - SRC charity fundraiser to support the Royal Children s Hospital Good Friday Appeal. Parents are able to bring foods to their child s Learning Community. Please ensure that you complete the required a label to accompany the food you bring in just in case of allergies. A note will go out on compass today in regard to the lunch. Year 1 and 2 Choir Club I had the pleasure of visiting the year 1 and 2 Choir Club yesterday and sang alongside our students who were learning two songs in preparation to perform next term at assembly. The students were smiling and having a lot of fun with Mrs Moloney and Mr Don Paul. A great time was had by all! Congratulations on the Prep Mini Commonwealth Games Last Friday I witnessed the Preps having their Prep Mini Commonwealth Games. Each student had their flag and we conducted an opening and closing ceremony. All Prep students participated in tabloid sports, showing true spirit of competition and learned how to take winning and losing with good grace. Please read the article further on in the newsletter. Congratulations Preps! Safe Parking around the School This is a reminder to parents to ensure that they are keeping student safety a priority when driving or parking around the school. Residents have been contacting the school to say people are parking across private driveways. We ask that our parents are courteous and considerate by not doing this as this is illegal. Some places are safer than others to park and Ravenhurst Drive opposite the school carpark is not recommended due to the narrow road way and corner section that means drivers do not have good visibility of students crossing the road. Drivers are putting students and themselves at risk of serious accidents. Harmony Day Celebrations Wednesday 21 st March On Wednesday the 21 st of March we will be celebrating Harmony Day. Students will be dressing in clothes from their country of origin, or orange to signify that we all belong. This year we are encouraging students to perform some traditional dances or songs from their country of origin and then celebrate Have a safe and wonderful week. Kathy Sharp Principal
