Date 23 August 2018 There must be something in the water this week. Unfortunately, this week has seen lots of emotions coming out and sometimes spilling over in the playground. While I understand the frustrations that can be felt on a day to day basis, under no circumstances should this escalate to someone physically or verbally being aggressive to someone else. Lavington Public School prides itself on being an environment where teaching and learning can thrive. But, honestly, there s been a couple of speed bumps this week. These issues have been dealt with promptly, thoroughly and transparently as we continue to deliver the best education for all of our students. In more positive news It was great to see so many community members support our P&C s Trivia Night. It was very well organised and the time taken to gather prizes, develop questions and organise the smooth running of the night was greatly appreciated by all in attendance. Dave Cunningham as quizmaster was exceptional and provided many laugh out loud moments. Well done Kathy Barnes and team. We have a very hardworking P&C and one we should all be proud of! Our Book Parade also had an incredible turn out. I stood in front of the Kindergarten classrooms to take in the view of all the parents and family members coming to support Book Week at LPS. It was awesome. So much time and effort went into costumes and seeing the staff dress up with them was pretty impressive too. So good to see! Have a great Friday, weekend and I ll see you again soon. Brett SCHOOL NEWS The 2018 LPS Production ONLINE NEWSLETTER From week 7 this term our newsletter will go paperless! The newsletter will be available on the Skoolbag app and on the school website. If you would like to continue to receive a paper copy it will be available in the office foyer. You or your child can collect it from there. LAVI S GOT TALENT Date: 20 September 2018 Albury Entertainment Centre Tickets now $7.50 due to box office charges. Apologies for any inconvenience. Tickets will be available from the 6 September at the AEC not at school.

Photographer, Phil Bell, was the judge at the Albury Show in 2017 and was so impressed with our entries that he visited our school on Monday. He chatted with our students about his passion for photography and shared his knowledge, tips and tricks to inspire our young photographers. PBL FOCUS RIGHT PLACE RIGHT TIME STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL S FUNDRAISING EVENT Don t forget next Friday 31 August the SRC will hold a fundraising event 'Farmer Friday'! This is to raise money for our farmers battling the drought. Students are encouraged to wear 'country' clothes to raise awareness and also bring a gold coin donation. Proceeds will then be passed on to a nominated charity to help support our farmers. SPORT NEWS FINAL PSSA SPORT TOMORROW To all our boys and girls involved in wither PSSA sport, we hope you have enjoyed the season. A couple of wash outs havent t deterred the player s enthusiasm. The weather is looking promising for tomorrow. All our new Netball dresses, AFL jumpers and Soccer shirts need to be returned to the team coaches by the end of next week. RIVERINA PSSA ATHLETICS CARNIVAL The following students are members of the Albury PSSA team for next Fridays Riverina Athletics Carnival; Chaise Ravenna, Sophie Gawen, Hollie Goldsworthy, Brock Poynter, Talesha Calvert, Cruz Teesdale, Eliza Summerill, Zahna Deery, Millah Ravenna, Ella Semple, Ellie Lyons and Lucy Summerill. As you see we are well represented across the track and field disciplines. It is great to have our Junior and Senior girls relay teams representing our school as well. Good luck to all our talented athletes.

Trent Barrett Shield Todd Woodbridge Cup Tennis Regional Finals Congratulations to all team members of the Trent Barrett Shield gala day last week. For some students it was the first time participating in a Rugby League and League Tag competition. Mrs Armstrong and Mrs Cunningham commented on our students positive sportsmanship and great enthusiasm throughout the day. A team of 4 boys and 4 girls have qualified for the regional finals of the Year 3 & 4 tennis tournament. This is following impressive perfomances at the recently held Albury gala day. Theses students head off to Wagga on Wednesday 5 September to compete. We d like to wish these boys and girls all the best. A big Thank you to Dave Cunningham also who gave up his time to assist with the smooth running of the day.
