Current February 2018 SCHOOL SPORT VICTORIA COMPETITION PATHWAY AND PROGRESSIONS THE RATIOLE As per the Rogers Report on the Review of the Structure of School Sport in Victoria, rules and guidelines must provide the opportunity for all Victorian schools from all sectors to participate in all aspects of the primary and secondary school sport program and must be equitable for country students and schools. Any school team or individual student from anywhere in Victoria should be able to progress through the competition pathway, providing they meet all other rules and conditions of competition, to reach the State Championships. THE POLICY School Sport Victoria (SSV) provides a competition pathway for Full and Associate member schools and individuals from Full and Associate member schools to participate in a competition structure that has a defined pathway across Victoria. This Policy is to be read and implemented in conjunction with the SSV General Conditions of Competition and relevant Sport Specific Rules. For Primary Schools, the Competition Pathway is: District Division Region State For Secondary Schools, the Competition Pathway is: Division Region State School Teams and individuals must compete at each level of competition to reach the State Championships. Teams or individuals may only miss a level of competition if an invitation is granted having met the Invitation Policy Criteria or have been advanced as part of the Appeals and Grievances Policy. APPENDIX A: PROGRESSION THROUGH THE SCHOOL SPORT VICTORIA COMPETITION PATHWAY Progression through the SSV Competition Pathway described above is by the number(s) determined by the SSV Operations Team, ratified by the SSV Board of Management. This is reviewed each year and updated Progression Numbers will be circulated to all member schools. The Progression Numbers can be found in Appendix A. Where some flexibility exists for Primary Districts and Secondary Division to determine their own progression numbers, a suggested number is provided for their information. Multi Class students in mainstream schools must follow the same pathways and progressions as their able body peers. For levels above Primary District and Secondary Division, numbers can only be varied by the SSV Operations Manager or a meeting of the SSV Operations Team. APPENDIX B: PROGRESSION THROUGH THE SCHOOL SPORT VICTORIA COMPETITION PATHWAY FOR STUDENTS ATTENDING SPECIALISED SCHOOLS Progression through the SSV Competition Pathway described above is by the number(s) determined by the SSV Operations Team, ratified by the SSV Board of Management. The Progression Numbers can be found in Appendix B, however, flexibility exists for more students to be invited to attend higher levels of competition. Invitations are determined by the SSV Operations Manager or a meeting of the SSV Operations Team.
