1 ST XV RUGBY TOUR 2014 GEORGE Message from the Headmaster Congratulations, gentlemen, on being selected to represent WPPS on the forthcoming 1 st XV Rugby Tour to George. For those privileged enough to experience one, a sports tour is invariably the highlight of the season, if not of one s whole sporting career at school. It is both widely acknowledged and appreciated that through involvement in sports a young person is afforded the opportunity to discover and to develop physical, mental, emotional and social skills. You will find that your experiences on tour, even in the space of one, intensive week, will take you to deeper and more significant levels of skills, team commitment and camaraderie. Our hope is that you return from the tour with a sincere sense of accomplishment at a job well done; with a heightened sense of loyalty to your friends; and with profound gratitude to our school, your coaches and, above all, your parents. Savour every challenge and experience! We know you will make us proud. Best wishes and God 1bless. st XV RUGBY TOUR 2014 GEORGE Michael Hosty Headmaster 3
1 ST XV RUGBY TOUR 2014 GEORGE Message from the Coaches The 1st XV side has experienced a great deal in the 2014 season thus far; from the Centenary Rugby Festival in April, to some very competitive matches against the big, boys schools in a strong local league. The results have not always reflected the manner in which the boys have played and, unfortunately, size and speed make all the difference at prep school level. The team s primary focus this year has been on ball retention and skills. We feel that covering these key elements of the game will stand them in good stead. This tour to George will enable the boys to express themselves much more than they have been allowed, and we are really excited for the team to show the school what they are made of. We are confident the lads will do very well, and do us proud. All the best for the upcoming festival to Glenwood House. Mr Hughes & Mr Skeeles 4
