Please make sure we have your current email on your 4-H enrollment form. NC FAIR CAMP SITES Campsites will be available for the Nuckolls Co. Fair. There will be no nonelectrical campsites available and NO extension cords allowed for hook up purposes. The price will be $35.00 for the entire fair. Contact Nick at 402.984.9398 to reserve your spot! Spots will be reserved on a first come first serve basis. FAIR THEME 4H.. The Good Life We ask 4-Hers to incorporate this theme into their fair exhibits for special recognition. We are incorporating Nebraska s 150 year celebration, with 4-H. Be creative and original. 4-H ONLINE ENROLLMENT Nebraska 4-H introduced the 4-H online enrollment system called 4-H Online and most should be familiar with re-enrollment. 4-H members MUST re- enroll online by April 1 paper enrollment is no longer an option. The website to enroll is https://ne.4honline.com. You ll need to have the email and password that you used last year on the system. If you can t remember your password you can reset the password by contacting the office or asking for a reset code to be sent to your email. NOTE: only parents/guardians may enroll 4-H members. Each 4-H household will need to set up a profile in which the 4-H youth for the household will be added. Current 4-H members who are not enrolled online by April 1 will no longer be officially enrolled members. Projects may be updated through May 1 by contacting the office. Volunteer Leaders are asked to enroll on the same online site. We would like to have leaders complete the re-enrollment by May 1 but will accept volunteer leaders at anytime during the year. Enrollment fees are Thayer County: Individual $6 Family $10 Nuckolls County: Individual$10 Family $17 Late Enrollments/Entries will be accepted for up to 5 business days after the deadline with an additional $5 per individual late fee. Madison Mumm Kelby Mumm Walker Dick WORKSHOP OPPORTUNITIES SOLAR LIGHT POST WORKSHOP This solar light post would be a nice addition to any patio or garden. The workshop will be held on Tuesday April 18 afterschool at the Thayer County Extension office. Cost of the workshop will be $10. WATERCOLOR PAINTING TECHNIQUE WORKSHOP Learn 8 watercolor painting techniques and begin painting your own watercolor masterpiece. Workshop cost is $12.00 and participants will take home: Prang 8-color watercolor set, 4 watercolor brushes, a watercolor paper pad, and a 9 x 12 cold press watercolor sheet to use for their final project. Project can be entered under Portfolio Pathways, Class 3 Original Watercolor. This will be an after school workshop lasting until approx. 6:00 pm Thayer County, March 23 Nuckolls County, March 20 Pre-Register By March 13 POLLINATOR WORKSHOP Mason Bees are natural pollinators. But unlike the honey bee, mason bees do not live in colonies. Female mason bee does all the work and needs natural cracks and crevices to lay their eggs. At this workshop you ll make a house for the female Mason bee to move into and lay her eggs. Placing this bee house near your garden will help provide pollinators for your garden. The Workshop with all the supplies will be $5.00 Pre-registration is required by March 30. Workshops will be held April 6, Thayer Co Courthouse, Hebron and April 13, Nuckolls Co. Extension Office, Nelson.
SPECIAL OPPORTUNITIES SOUTH CENTRAL CATTLEMEN S SCHOLARSHIP The South Central Cattlemen will again be sponsoring up to $3,000 worth of scholarships. A $1000 scholarship will be offered to Food Animal Veterinary students currently enrolled in a veterinary school. The scholarships will be divided at the discretion of the South Central Cattlemen s tenmember board. Students pursuing an ag-related field of study is preferred but not required. Counties, or be a resident of said counties but attending school outside these counties, or be a child of a South Central Cattlemen s member. Students pursuing an ag-related field of study is preferred but not required. Deadline to submit scholarship is March 15. SPEECH CONTEST The local 4-H Public Speaking Contest will be held on Monday, March 27 at 7:00 p.m. at the 4-H Building on the Thayer County Fairgrounds. You must pre-register for the contest by Thursday, March 20 by calling the office or sending an email to kmussman2@unl.edu. To apply for a campership, please submit the following information to Lindsay Shearer by email or mail. Allow 7-10 Business days for response to campership request. Please note that single day camp sessions are not eligible for Camperships. * Campership requests must be received and approved prior to registration for a camp session. 1. A request for campership support from the Parent/Guardian. Please be sure to include the name, age, and gender for each camper and the session each camper would like to attend. 2. A brief statement from the parent or from the camper expressing why they would like to attend camp this summer. Once the request for a campership has been approved you will receive notification from Lindsay and receive an authorization code for registration that can be entered online or documented on a mail-in registration form. Following any campership support, we do ask that the camper send a thank you note to donors sharing a highlight from their summer camp experience.
