The theme in 2016 is Australia! Story Country. Each year, many schools and public libraries from all over Australia spend a week celebrating books and Australian authors and illustrators. Classroom teachers, teacher librarians and public librarians develop activities, offer competitions and tell stories relating to a theme to highlight the importance of reading. Some great information on Book Week can be found here: https://cbca.org.au/book-week- 2016 Congratulations and thanks to everyone who helped make the SJV Book Week Dress Up Day a success on Monday and Rug Reading activity today. Thank you also to all who have visited the SJV Book Fair. I particularly want to thank Kym Robertson, Jackie Vickers and Julia McLean who led us through the events of the week. Thank you! Gala Night This Saturday evening a good number of our community will gather to enjoy our 75th Gala Evening. Thank you to all who have contributed to the organisation of this night especially Amanda Harding and her team of parents. Thank you to our generous sponsors for their support which is very much appreciated. Parental Support The school requires the support of parents to ensure high standards are maintained at SJV. In order to do this, I ask all parents to ensure your child/ren are dressed in the correct school uniform and arrive at school before the first bell so that the day starts smoothly for all students and staff. Best wishes for the week ahead. Geoff Sullivan (Principal)

Thank you for your continued support of all things sport at SJV. Marian Carlton Health & Physical Education Teacher
