Padmavathi, Office Assistant In order to avoid the communication gap among the various stakeholders of the institute on all academic and administrative matters and also to facilitate the achievement of the intended student learning outcomes, the Faculty Council of the college resolved to bring out a quarterly e-newsletter. The various activities organized from time to time, be it co-curricular or Extracurricular will be a part of this newsletter. All important events planned will also be covered. Besides mailing online to all the concerned, this will also be kept on our website. We earnestly seek suggestions for improvement. - Director ORIENTATION PROGRAM FOR FRESHERS: An Orientation program for freshers was conducted on 02-07-2018. The director, principal, vice principal addressed the gathering and motivated the students to take advantage of the facilities and opportunities provided by the college.the conveners of all the committees made PPT presentations on work done by them and also the events planned for the next academic year. At the end of the program Dr. Vijaya Prasad, director invited students to talk about their impression of the college. On the direction of the director, a cash prize of Rs.500/- was given to the first/best speaker, a visually challenged boy Sai Raj from BBA I year. Adviser Dr. D. INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS: Independence Day was celebrated in the college with great patriotic fervor. The flag was hoisted by the girl toppers of the college, as is the custom of VJIAS. Speeches on the freedom struggle were given and patriotic songs were sung by students. The Director, Principal and Vice-Principal spoke on the occasion. INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA: International Day of Yoga was celebrated in the college on 21-06-2018. Volunteers from Isha Foundation conducted a session on yoga and showed videos on Upa Yoga practices. Students and faculty participated in the program and did some simple yoga exercises. Yoga Day Celebrations

TASK FOR SKILLING / CERTIFICATION AND PLACEMENTS: Officer on Special Duty, Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge, (TASK), Dr. Shailaja along with the local contact person, Ms. Sravanthi, visited the college and discussed all the programs and services offered by TASK to students and faculty. A detailed discussion was held with the director, Dr. Vijaya Prasad, Ms. T. Rama, vice-principal and Ms. T. Radhika, convener, certificate courses committee. An orientation program was conducted by Ms. Shravathi, TASK representative and resource person, for all the students of the college. Students were informed about the services offered by TASK for training and placements on 13 th July. The Deputy General Manager, Mr. Srikanth of BSNL and his associates, Mr. Srikanth-Cost Accountant, and Mr.Yogesh, CA, visited the college and addressed the staff and students and explained about the certificate courses on Tally and GST to students through TASK. COMPUTER CLUB: Computer club organized a presentation on New Technology in Use on 21 st July 2018. Students Presenting Innovations in Mobile Technology Mr. Shailendra from Disha Trust of ICICI Bank spoke to the students on the Basics of Banking and Importance of PAN CARD, Aadhar card, Insurance and Investments on 4 th August. Financial Literacy Session in Progress

NSS ACTIVITY: Dr. N. Shashidhar, NSS coordinator, with four NSS volunteers went to Tolkatta village to distribute 58 pairs of shoes to girls in the ZPH School on 14 th August.The footwear was acquired with the contribution of Dr. Janaki Rani, former principal, Government College for Women, Begumpet, some students of the NSS unit and all the faculty of the college. Distribution of Footwear All the girls of the NSS wing went to an orphanage Manchikalalu at West Marredpally and served food cooked by them to the inmates and tied Rakhis to the boys. A demonstration on making paper bags that can carry stuff up to 1Kg was organised on 21 st August. Dr. Shashidhar, NSS coordinator and T. Prashanth from B.Com final year demonstrated, made and distributed the paper bags to faculty. Preparation of Paper Bags ACHIEVEMENTS : Dr. Shashidhar was awarded Ph.D in Sanskrit from OU. Shashidhar on acquiring his doctorate degree. The director, the principal and faculty felicitated Mr. Felicitation to Dr.Shashidhar

SATURDAY SEMINARS: Seminar committee conducted the first activity for this academic year Speak Your Mind on 23 rd June. The students from all streams participated. Ms. Shivanjani of BBA final year was adjudged the best speaker. A seminar on the topic, Depression was conducted on 30 th June. Rajesh from B.Com Computers, III Sem, was selected as the best speaker. Role Play was conducted on 7 th July. Four teams participated in the role play. Two teams comprising, BBA I,II&III & B.Sc II year students were pronounced the winners.

A debate on the topic, Corruption in the Indian Media was conducted on 21 st July. Baruch Sharma from BBA first year was selected as the best speaker. A Presentation on the topic, Is our News Media Corrupt? was conducted on 29 th July. The winners are, Vinay Teja, BBA III year, Poornima, B.Com (Comp) II year, and D. Yuktha, D. Ganesh & G. Ganesh of B.Com (Comp) I year. Our Director Dr. Vijaya Prasad appreciated & congratulated the students and motivated them to participate in more such seminars. As an incentive and as a motivation, it was announced by the director that all Saturday program winners (may be 30 or 40 students by the end) will acquire the privilege to interact with the noted industrialist and President of VJ, Dr. D. N. Rao garu in February/March 2019 ( at a mutually convenient date). Dr. D. N. Rao garu will answer all their questions or doubts. Seminar Committee conducted JAM session on 4 th August. Baruch Sharma from BBA I Yr was awarded the best speaker prize and Raghu of BBAII Yr was given the second prize.

NEWS IN BRIEF: Keeping the onerous services of Prof. D. Ravinder, Principal, Arts College, and OU nominee to our Governing Body, in terms of his contribution for our College State level seminar, Annual Day function, besides being a very important administrative functionary in the OU Arts College and Centenary Celebrations, the Governing Body of VJIAS appreciated his contribution profusely and felicitated Prof. Ravinder with a shawl. A faculty development program The role of a Teacher in shaping the personality of the students was organized on 04-06-2018. The Guest Speaker is Prof. V. Viswanadham, Retd. Professor, OU. Opening ceremony of new class rooms in the third floor was held on 2 nd July.

Ms. T. Rama attended a workshop at Guru Nanak Institute of Technology as a resource person on 5 July. Dr. N.Shashidhar Faculty of Sanskrit, attended a workshop on Computational Linguistics / स स क तसङ गणक स स धन नन at Sanskrit Academy, Osmania University from 25-7-2018 till 4-8-2018. Ms. N. Aruna, Principal, presented a paper at an International Conference in Singapore on 24 th July 2018. IIT Bombay has given an opportunity to our college to provide Free Online certification for 100 students for any number of courses. A student can undergo training for one certificate course in a semester. The relevant courses are identified and provided for each stream-b.com/ B.Sc. A meeting with all the faculty was held by the Director Dr. Vijaya Prasad. Members of all the various committees made power point presentations on action plan for the academic year 2018-19. The director gave valuable suggestions to the members on how to improve quality in students and add value to their degrees. Our students participated in the Regional Level International Yoga Day Celebrations 2018, conducted by NSS, JNTUH at Malla Reddy Engineering College. Nina Bandwagon a cultural organization conducted auditions for dance. Eight students from our college participated in the auditions. All eight participants were selected for the next round on 21 st July. Women Empowerment cell conducted a workshop on Basic Stitches to the girls in the college on 18 th August.
