Blessing of the Animals On October 4, the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, our parish will have a blessing of animals at 6:00 pm in front of the chapel. The school will be collecting animal treats to make goodie bags for all the animals in attendance. Please send your donation to your child s homeroom by Monday, October 1. Thank you for your support. September 28, 2018 Dear St. John Families, Please join our parish community on October 7 at the 11:30 Mass in celebrating the launch of the new parish mission and the blessing of the St. John statue by Bishop Adam Parker. More information is included at the end of the update. Once again the SJE Fathers Club will sponsor a No Carve Pumpkin Contest on Friday, October 26 (the morning of Trunk or Treat). See the attached flyer for more information. Ident-A-Kid ID cards are carried by all parents and caregivers in their wallet and on their cell phone (and by middle-school age students). The ID card is recognized by the U.S. Government s SSA as a form of identification. ID cards are often needed for sports registration, travel, student discounts, and in emergencies. To participate, please fill in the Application Envelope which will come home with your child on Monday, 10/1/18 and have your child return it to school. St. John Parish Wine Festival Save the date and get your tickets for the North Baltimore County Wine Festival, presented by Liberty Pure Solutions, Inc., right here at St. John! This event will take place on Saturday, November 3 from 6-9 PM in the church hall. Tickets will be available for purchase in the parish office - $55 each includes 100+ unlimited wines, bourbons, and craft beers from around the globe, gourmet eats, and fabulous silent auction items. Lunch Duty Sign-up Below you will find the sign-up links for lunch duty. Parents are kindly asked to volunteer for 2-3 lunch duties per child throughout the school year. On designated Fridays or Thursdays students may wear Ravens jerseys, shirts, or colors with their gym shorts or gym pants and tennis shoes for a donation of 50 cents. The SJE Student Council will choose a charity that will receive the proceeds. Students also may wear purple and /or black socks, ribbons, bows, and jewelry. The dates are marked on the website calendar and highlighted in the weekly update. Our next Purple Day will be on Thursday, October 18. What s Spirit Day? Once a month on the Tuesday that we have our pizza lunch in the Church Hall, we also have a special spirit day. Our student council chooses a theme, and students can wear t-shirts, socks, and hair accessories reflective of that theme with their gym pants and tennis shoes. Our next SJE Spirit Day is October 23, and no donation is required. The theme will change each month and announced in the weekly update.
