O N E W S L I N E Q 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27 693 Albert Street Wallaceburg, ON N8A 1Y8 Telephone: 519-627-6013 Fax: 519-627-5051 E-mail: admin@wallaceburgchristianschool.com Website: www.wallaceburgchristianschool.com December 6, 2010 # Newsline 13 Principal s Message Greetings WCS, WCS is all a buzz with activities as we head into the final stretch before Christmas Break. Mrs. Matheson has been spending a lot of time working with all the students, as she helps them prepare for our Christmas program on Friday at 7 p.m. at First Baptist in Wallaceburg. Every afternoon I walk around and visit all the classes, and to my delight I hear students singing beautiful songs celebrating the birth of our Saviour. I am really looking forward to this evening, as I am sure you all are too. There are a lot of little details that need to be taken care of. If you have any extra time to volunteer, please contact Mrs. Nauta, who will be happy to point you in the right direction. As you walk into our school, you will quickly note how festive the classrooms are. I even believe there is a little healthy competition between Grade 7-8 and Grade 1-2 with who has the most lights and decorations. This is all fun and fine, yet I am even more thankful that time is taken throughout the day to help each child understand that Christmas is more than the consumer world we live in. Bright lights, trees and decorations all pale when we stop and reflect that we serve a God that loved us so much that he sent his only Son save us from our sins. This is a season to be reminded once again that true peace is not what leadership brings to the table through negotiations, rather it is the peace we gain by being with Christ. It is He that gives us what we could never reach on our own: harmony and true peace. Let us continue to share this truth in our families, with our friends, and with each other. May the peace of Christ and with Christ fill us all during this most special time of the year. Shalom, Mr. Andy J. Alblas Page 1

SCHOOL NEWS ITEMS School Pictures Any orders from the retakes need to be in by Tuesday, December 7 TOMORROW to guarantee delivery for Christmas. Pizza Day Pizza Day is this Thursday, December 9. Please return the form at the end of this Newsline, with exact change attached, by Thursday morning at 10 a.m. Christmas Concert Friday, December 10 All students need to be at First Baptist Church no later than 6:45 p.m. JK/SK students will be starting the concert, and will go to sit with their parents after they sing. All other students will be sitting with their classes. We are in need of a few volunteers to sit with the students during the concert. Cookie Dough (G.R.O.W. S.M.A.R.T.) Thank you for your support of this program with the cookie dough fundraiser. Delivery will be on Friday, December 10, and should be available for pick up after 11 a.m. 50th Anniversary: We are excited to be celebrating our 50th anniversary during the 2010/2011 school year. The Board of WCS would like to celebrate this momentous achievement throughout the year through a variety of special events. We need your help! A planning committee is being formed, and we need people to help with the generation and selection of ideas and the planning of the selected events. There are numerous volunteers available to help with actual execution of these events, but we are in need of people to lead the planning. A planning committee meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 14 at 7 p.m. at the LV Electronics showroom (1405 Dufferin Ave, Wallaceburg). Please contact Brad Goodreau at 519-683-6968 or brad.lve@sympatico.ca if you are willing to join the planning committee. Please seriously consider volunteering in this capacity. If we are unable to solicit any members for this committee, we are at risk of being unable to proceed with any of the 50th anniversary celebrations. Operation Cookie Drop The younger grades are planning on doing Operation Cookie Drop once again this year. We take baked goods to local services (i.e. Fire Department, Police, etc.) to thank them for the things they do for our community. We are looking for donations of baked goods to use for this. If you are willing to send in some baked goods, or help in other ways, please contact Mrs. Hoogstad through email or by phone. This is planned for early next week. Thank you! Candy-Cane-O-Grams Every year, students have the opportunity to purchase candy canes to send to other students. They will go on sale every recess during the week of December 6-10, and will be delivered on Tuesday, December 14. Each candy cane will cost 25, and all students are required to send one candy cane to their reading buddy. All money raised will go to the Langevelds, a missionary family working in Cameroon. T.R.I.P. Thank you for all your orders! It s wonderful to see so many families participating in this excellent fundraiser. The orders should be sent home some time next week; please watch for them. Please continue using the gift cards what we carry in stock. There is an order form at the bottom of this Newsline, as well as a link on our website. It is a wonderful way to raise money to reduce your tuition, and raise money for school. Christmas Trees Thank you for your poinsettia and Christmas tree orders. We were able to raise $1,000 for our school. Don t forget, William Sloan s U-Cut will give the school $5 / tree, with a green coupon. Extra coupons are available from the office for your Page 2
