DISTRICT INFORMATION AND CLUSTER REPORT Temple Schools serve approximately 2,600 students in the northern portion of Carroll County. The Temple Cluster includes Providence Elementary, Sharp Creek Elementary, Temple Elementary, Temple Middle and Temple High. Students who attend Temple Schools have unique opportunities to excel in academics, arts and activities, while also learning leadership skills and building character. The Temple Cluster is part of the Carroll County School District, which is located 50 miles west of Atlanta. The District offers premier educational opportunities to approximately 14,800 students throughout its 23 schools and two College and Career Academy sites. The Carroll County School District s mission is to develop globally competitive college and career ready graduates. The District takes pride in the impact it has on the citizens of Carroll County and is focused on the long-term success of the students, staff and communities it serves. MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT Welcome to the Carroll County School System! While our district covers a broad geographic area, we have a community-focused approach to our strategy building relationships and understanding the specific needs of our students, families, educators and communities we serve is the foundation for everything we do. Carroll County Schools recognizes that there is a direct correlation between high-performing schools and the economic well-being of our community. By partnering with local businesses, civic groups, organizations and educational institutions, Carroll County Schools offers all students premier learning opportunities and improves the quality of life for those who live and work in our area. The 2016-2017 school year was truly a premier year. Our students excelled in academics, arts and activities, our teachers enhanced their communication strategies to ensure effectiveness and consistency in classroom instruction, our board members were recognized as a Distinguished School Board and many of our schools earned awards for high performance. Additionally, we opened our second College and Career Academy facility and a 42,500 square foot performing arts center. We are grateful to our community partners and to the families who have chosen Carroll County Schools for their children. Together we have achieved much and together we can accomplish our vision of being recognized as a premier school district with premier teachers, premier leaders and premier schools. ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ACADEMICS TEMPLE MIDDLE SCHOOL ACADEMICS CCRPI scores for all Temple Elementary Schools were higher than the District and State Average. All Temple Elementary Schools improved in 8 out of 8 academic areas on the Georgia Milestones Assessment. All Temple Elementary Schools improved in 3 out of 3 Lexile reading measures. Providence Elementary student won the Carroll County Spelling Bee. 8th grade students exceeded the state average in all areas on End of Course (EOC) and End of Grade (EOG) scores. Offers three high school level courses. Academic team earned two first place finishes in county competitions. Earned five first place finishes in Science Olympiad at region STEM competitions. Temple Elementary named National Beta School of Merit. Sharp Creek Elementary showed improvements in the number of 4th grade students meeting expectations in all writing domains. ARTS ARTS Band earned all Superior Ratings at LGPE. All Temple Elementary Schools offer music and art programs. Students participated in the District Honor Chorus. Students participated in Cluster Fine Arts celebration. Sharp Creek Elementary student won the School Nutrition Art Contest. Band participated in two community-wide music festivals. Chorus earned all Excellent Ratings at LGPE. Students participated in Cluster Fine Arts celebration. ACTIVITIES ACTIVITIES All Temple Elementary Schools have after school running clubs. Providence Elementary raised more than $10,000 for Jump Rope for Heart. Providence Elementary hosted Carroll County Clash-up Race. Football won the Middle School League Championship. Basketball and Soccer finished as Middle School League runners-up. 4 Sharp Creek Elementary completed a new walking track. Providence Elementary added a basketball court for the playground. 5
TEMPLE HIGH SCHOOL ACADEMICS Graduation rate of over 90% for the second consecutive year. End of Course scores improved in 6 out of 8 areas. 18% increase in dual enrollment. Named an AP Challenge School and an AP STEM School. Honored as a National Beta School of Merit. The recipient of the GOSA Silver Award for Greatest Gains. ARTS Marching band earned a Grand Championship. Concert band earned all Superior Ratings at LGPE. One-Act play was the region runner-up. ACTIVITIES 11 athletic teams competed in state playoffs. Three individual state championships in Track and Field events. Volleyball Team won the Elite 8 Area Championship. Boys Basketball Team won the Carroll County Championship. STEM & INNOVATION The Temple Cluster emphasizes Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) integration as a method to engage students and encourage interest in these critical areas. Students participate in classroom STEM opportunities, after school STEM groups, STEM competitions, as well as STEM nights, Science Nights and Math Nights to share what they have learned with parents and the community. 8 HIGHLIGHTS All Temple Cluster schools made progress towards achieving Advanced Education STEM Certification. THS was named an AP STEM School by the Georgia Department of Education. All Temple Cluster schools participated in Science Olympiad. All Temple Cluster Elementary Schools participated in Georgia STEM Day. 9
COMMUNITY AND STAKEHOLDERS Community-focused schools provide tremendous opportunities for teachers and administrators to connect with students and their families. The Temple Cluster works closely with parents, civic organizations and local businesses to offer students programs and activities that build character, encourage responsibility and foster community spirit. 10 11
MEET THE BASANT FAMILY We have always had a great relationship with the teachers and administrators in all of the Temple Schools. When we call with a question, they respond immediately with an answer. Our children have many activities to choose from and are excelling academically. We are proud to be part of the Temple Cluster family. 12 13

We have a true community at Temple High School. Everyone works together, and my teachers take plenty of time to help me. Andrew Shirley, Temple High School Though no school is perfect, I believe that Temple Middle is one of the best I could ask for. It makes for a great learning experience and allows you to make friends. There s no school I d rather be than here. Jasmine Almon, Temple Middle School My teachers are great!
