Pre-AP Courses Pre-AP (PAP) Agreement & Policy According to the College Board, Pre-AP is based on the following two important premises. The first is the expectation that all students can perform well at rigorous academic levels. This expectation is reflected in LISD curriculum and instruction throughout the district. All students are consistently being challenged to expand their knowledge and skills to the next level. Pre-AP teaching strategies are reflected in all courses taken by students prior to their enrollment in Advanced Placement (AP ) courses. The second important premise of Pre-AP is the belief that we can prepare every student for higher intellectual engagement by starting the development of skills and acquisition of knowledge as early as possible. LISD offers Pre-AP courses at the middle school level to provide a variety of opportunities for students to explore and prepare the full diversity of a school's student population for AP courses and college. Level Change Policy All students will be required to stay in a Pre-AP course for a minimum for three weeks before a change will be considered. It is the student s or parent s responsibility to notify the teacher that he/she would like to make a level change. Students must meet criteria for a level change to be considered. Please refer to Course Request Form for criteria and details.
