Hernandez Principal *** Important Information *** The following are school policies and procedures regarding student attendance and other expectations, which will be in effect for the 20162017 school year: Student/Parent Responsibilities Reporting Absences There are 3 ways to report a student absence, by phone, in person, or online at the school website. If reporting by phone, please contact the attendance office prior to 8:30am on the day of absence. Call Ms. Sheridan at 347-4108 or Ms. Lopez at 347-4122. Students must submit a signed note from the parent or doctor at the beginning of the next school day. Tardy Policy Students are expected to be in their assigned seats on time, before the tardy bell rings. Students with chronic unexcused tardies will face consequences and fines. Possible consequences for students with chronic unexcused tardies include but are not limited to: parent conference, detention, Saturday School, court hearing, etc. Common Dress Student tops are allowed to be four colors: Black, Gray, Gold/Yellow or White. Pants or shorts must be black. No blue jeans are allowed. Please support your student by ensuring they come to school in common dress. Student Drop-off In order to ensure the safety of our students, please drop-off students in the student parking lot on Senter Road. Student Parking Policy Students who choose to drive to school must park in the Senter Road parking lot. They must display a school parking tag in order to park inside the parking lot. To get a parking tag, students must have a valid driver license and register their vehicle with Ms. Lopez in the attendance office. After School Recovery Program Electronic Devices Page 5 of 6 Page 5 of 6 Electronic Devices and Cell Phone Policy Andrew Hill High School 3200 Senter Road San Jose, CA 95111 Phone: (408) 347-4111 Fax: (408) 347-4115 In accordance with Education Code 48901.5, personal electronic signaling devices on all E Union High School District school campuses a subject to regulation from the first warning b through the final bell of the school day. Thes personal electronic signal devices include, bu not limited to pagers, beepers, and cellular/ telephones. Personal electronic devices may be carried by students, but must be kept out of sight, i.e., in a purse or backpack, and must be turned off. Devices left on that disturb the educational setting are subject to confiscation, and the student subject to discipline. Students may not utilize personal communication devices on campus during any part of the school day. This includes concurrent classes, after-school detention, Saturday School, brunch and lunch. Violations of this policy will result in the being confiscated, and returned only parent/guardian at a time designated by t Once confiscated by site staff, the device accounted for until it is returned parent/guardian. Any violations of this policy are subject to discipline in accordance with the progressive discipline for Defiance on the District Discipline Chart. No student shall be prohibited from possessing or using an electronic signaling device that is determined by a licensed physician or surgeon to be essential for the student s health, and the use of which, is limited to health-related purposes. The student must have the doctor s note on file with the school.
