Depending on he young person s needs, a range of oher suppor and flexible raining may be offered o help hem develop heir skills and progress quickly ono an appreniceship or secure oher employmen. GCSE / A LEVEL GCSEs - Qualificaion GCSE one full GCSE GCSE Double Award equivalen o wo full GCSEs Learning Mosly classroom learning. Mix of heory and subjec based invesigaions. Having 5 GCSEs a grades C and above (including English and mahemaics) gives you a much bigger choice of pos-16 opions. The English Baccalaureae cerificae is awarded on he achievemen of a core of GCSEs in English, mahemaics, a humaniy (hisory or geography), he sciences and a language. A levels A Levels like mos GCSEs have already been updaed and modernised. Sronger connecions beween opics and more open ended quesions increase he level of challenge for sudens. A Level sudens will be able o gain an A* grade, deermined a A2, o recognise he higher levels of achievemen. Appreniceship As an Apprenice, you can earn whils you learn and gain naionally recognised qualificaions a he same ime such as a Naional Vocaional Qualificaion (NVQ), BTEC or Ciy and Guilds. Appreniceships come in hree levels. Inermediae Level Appreniceships - equivalen o 5 good GCSE passes Advanced Appreniceships - equivalen o 2 A level passes Higher Appreniceships - lead o qualificaions a NVQ L4 or in some cases a foundaion degree There is no se ime o complee an Appreniceship as hey vary widely in conen and size. The lengh of ime aken will depend on he abiliy of he individual apprenice and he employer s requiremens. The AGE 16 o 24 is aimed a helping eligible employers o offer young people employmen hrough he Appreniceship programme, by providing grans o assis employers in recruiing a young apprenice. The gran arges employers who are new o Appreniceships and recruiing heir firs apprenice, and also suppors employers who have no been in a posiion wihin he previous 12 monhs o commi o employing an apprenice again. The Naional Appreniceship Service will provide up o 40,000 Appreniceship grans o employers wih up o 1,000 employees recruiing 16 o 24 year olds wih a value of 1,500 o encourage employers o ake on new apprenices.the 1,500 is in addiion o he raining coss of he Appreniceship framework which are me in full for young people aged 16 o 18 & 50% for hose aged 19 o 24. Young Voluneers Young Voluneers Communiy Acion have an iniiaive o offer voluneering opporuniies o young people who are under 19 including hose no in educaion, employmen or raining. The aim of he programme is o enable young people o develop and gain key skills and experiences hrough medium o long erm voluneering opporuniies. The programme has muually beneficial oucomes for boh he young person and he placemen. Whils giving suppor o he communiy, he young person gains from new experiences and he acquisiion of new skills which will enhance heir CV and fuure job prospecs. The placemen can be for as many hours as he young person wishes o underake subjec o he needs of he young person and he availabiliy of a placemen. The voluneering placemen does no affec any enilemen o benefis bu does no carry any financial recompense. However help wih ravel and oher addiional expenses may be available.
