Walk in Love Vol.2 Issue 9 January 13, 2017 One of the hallmarks of St. John s Lutheran School is that we are a family, united by faith in Jesus Christ and a common desire to nurture our children to be faithful disciples for Him. Families walk together in love and support one another. One of our premier family events is the St. John s Dinner Auction which will be held on Friday, March 17, at the Cedarburg Cultural Center. Invitations will be mailed at the end of this month and we pray that all of you can attend this night of celebration and thankfulness to God for what he has done and continues to do here at St. John s. If you are unable to attend, but desire to assist in the celebration, opportunities abound. 1. Support the sale of raffle tickets which will be sent home with your students at the end of the month. 2. Donate a special item to be used in our silent auction. It has been several years since we have offered a silent auction, but it will return this year because you asked! We suggest handcrafted items, unique items or services, or gift cards to local establishments. 3. Contact your place of employment for a donation to support the auction. Many businesses are glad to support you, your family, and your school in this manner. 4. Visit the online auction which will go live in February to register and bid on classroom projects, special items and baskets, and other surprises. 5. Consider donating to the Fund A Need, Cool the School which will go towards air conditioning the elementary and middle school. 6. Pray for the success of our auction and for those working to make it a reality. His Family Ministry journey started with his commitment to the choice of life, when he and his wife were presented with the decision to terminate their first child, who was diagnosed with spina bifida. That moment lit a fire in Dr. Horvath and set him on the path to mentor Christians in a world where the Christian concept of family is at war with society s new definition. The next two weeks Dr. Horvath will be leading us in a look into The War on Family focusing on: "The Attack" describing how the institution of the family has been deliberately undermined and how research shows that the intact families with a biblically grounded father are more likely to transmit the faith to the next generation. "The Response" describing the need for Christian parents to take the initiative in equipping their own children in the faith in a post-christian world.
