Walk in Love Vol.2 Issue 9 January 13, 2017 One of the hallmarks of St. John s Lutheran School is that we are a family, united by faith in Jesus Christ and a common desire to nurture our children to be faithful disciples for Him. Families walk together in love and support one another. One of our premier family events is the St. John s Dinner Auction which will be held on Friday, March 17, at the Cedarburg Cultural Center. Invitations will be mailed at the end of this month and we pray that all of you can attend this night of celebration and thankfulness to God for what he has done and continues to do here at St. John s. If you are unable to attend, but desire to assist in the celebration, opportunities abound. 1. Support the sale of raffle tickets which will be sent home with your students at the end of the month. 2. Donate a special item to be used in our silent auction. It has been several years since we have offered a silent auction, but it will return this year because you asked! We suggest handcrafted items, unique items or services, or gift cards to local establishments. 3. Contact your place of employment for a donation to support the auction. Many businesses are glad to support you, your family, and your school in this manner. 4. Visit the online auction which will go live in February to register and bid on classroom projects, special items and baskets, and other surprises. 5. Consider donating to the Fund A Need, Cool the School which will go towards air conditioning the elementary and middle school. 6. Pray for the success of our auction and for those working to make it a reality. His Family Ministry journey started with his commitment to the choice of life, when he and his wife were presented with the decision to terminate their first child, who was diagnosed with spina bifida. That moment lit a fire in Dr. Horvath and set him on the path to mentor Christians in a world where the Christian concept of family is at war with society s new definition. The next two weeks Dr. Horvath will be leading us in a look into The War on Family focusing on: "The Attack" describing how the institution of the family has been deliberately undermined and how research shows that the intact families with a biblically grounded father are more likely to transmit the faith to the next generation. "The Response" describing the need for Christian parents to take the initiative in equipping their own children in the faith in a post-christian world.

Athletic Updates... How do we fund St. John s Athletic Teams??? PPO, our parent organization, provides $6,000 per year to pay for our athletic program. The majority of these funds come from our three annual tournaments. These tournaments require parent volunteers and YOU CAN HELP! Click HERE to sign up for this first tournament which hosts 8 sister schools. Congratulations to our 7th and 8th Grade Girls Basketball Team! The girls took third place last weekend at the First Immanuel Basketball Tournament! Go Lady Eagles! Junior Eagles Grades 3-4 Our third and fourth grade boys and girls basketball teams will also play this Saturday at Living Word High School in Jackson. The first girls game is at 10:00 a.m. and the boys play at 1:00.

HAVE YOU HEARD??? Dr. Anthony Horvath shared important information about the family at the first of his three sessions. Click HERE to watch the video from his first week s session: The Stakes and plan now to join us for further conversation about your role as mother and father in passing on the faith. Discipleship Hour begins at 9:25 in the gym with Story Time for the children in the resource center.
