I trust that everyone had a safe Easter break and took the opportunity to spend time with family and friends. It was fantastic to see our students so excited about being back at school today and prepared for the big term ahead. I strongly encourage you to join us at our school ANZAC ceremony next Tuesday April 24th in the hall at 9.45am. It would be fantastic for as many families as possible to participate in the community Dawn Service on Wednesday April 25th (Public Holiday). Each year Trinity Beach Students wear their uniforms proudly as they march in the ANZAC parade. Our school choir will be singing the The ast ANZAC and National Anthems during the Dawn Service. Students are to assemble by 5.20am in front of the podium area (towards the southern end of Trinity Beach). In Week 6 our school will receive a Full School Review as part of the Education Department s School Review process. 3 school principals will make up the review team and will comprehensively audit our school against 9 Domains. The nine domains are: 1. An explicit improvement agenda 6. Systematic curriculum delivery 2. Analysis and discussion of data 7. Differentiated teaching and learning 3. A culture that promotes learning 8. Effective pedagogical practices 4. Targeted use of school resources 9. School-community partnerships 5. An expert teaching team The feedback from the review will assist us with future planning and ensure our new Strategic Plan is meeting the needs of our school community. I look forward to sharing the outcomes of this review later in the term. I will provide more details in upcoming weeks. "The National Assessment Program iteracy and Numeracy is an annual assessment for students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9. They will be occurring in Week 5 this term. NAPAN assesses skills in literacy and numeracy that are developed over time, through the school curriculum. NAPAN is not a pass or fail type test, but rather shows how students are progressing in numeracy and literacy skills against national standards for all Australian children. NAPAN tests fundamental skills rather than specific content, and as such is not a test for which students can study or drill. The best way you can help your child prepare for NAPAN is to let them know that NAPAN is just one part of their school program, and to urge them to simply do the best they can on the day. All students are expected to participate in the tests. If you are seeking to withdraw your child from the NAPAN test please refer to http://www.nap.edu.au/naplan/parent-carer-support.html. The event will run from 9am 11am on both days on the school oval. Students have been training extremely hard during their Physical Education classes, therefore we welcome parents/carers to come along and support this event. We encourage students to come dressed in their sports house coloured tops on the day that they are running and be sunsmart by wearing their hats and applying and reapplying sunscreen throughout the day. A healthy breakfast, morning tea and lunch is also essential in providing your child with the best opportunity to perform at their best. We recommend them to also drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. If you can offer any assistance for jobs such as marshalling and track supervision, could you please notify one of the Physical Education teachers. We look forward to see you all there. Mr andsberg, Mrs Donovan & Ms Arthur Physical Education Department (See maps on next pages) Thank you! Many thanks for your wonderful support saving all your Coles for Schools Vouchers.
