Enjoy your vacation time together. McMillan Library will be holding their "Teen Holiday Bash" on Tuesday, December 18th after school from 2:45-4:30 pm. They will be watching the movie "Elf," along with decorating cookies, making ornaments, and other activities. See the attached flyer for more information.. McTeacher s Night Even local schools deserve a break today! From 4:00 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 17, the Wisconsin Rapids McDonald s restaurant will be participating in McTeacher s Night. Ten percent of the sales during that time will benefit East Junior High School. The proceeds will go towards events that will be held at EJH such as Freshman Formal and the Courage Retreat. Progress Reports are Coming!!! The 12 week grading period (referred to as P2), is set to end on December 4 th. Recall that grades for the semester are cumulative grades that are broken into 3 grading periods, 6 weeks, 12 weeks, and 18 weeks. They are referred to and printed as P1, P2, and S1 respectively on the grade reports. As a reminder, paper copies of P2 will not be mailed home unless your child is receiving a 12 week cumulative grade that is below a C- or you have requested a paper copy of the grade report. The majority of parents will receive notification via email, Facebook, or the East Junior High Website, when grades are posted. This should occur on or around December 6 th. If you have any questions regarding this report, notification, or process, please call the office at 715-424-6730. Courage Retreat Tuesday and Wednesday all 8 th grade students will have an exciting opportunity to go to the Courage Retreat at Mid State technical College. The Courage Retreat is a high energy, enthusiastic program sponsored by Youth Frontiers that teaches students to have the courage to stand up for themselves and others to help prevent bullying and negative behaviors. 8 th grade students will be attending the Courage Retreat on their Phy Ed day. On Tuesday, December 4, all Day 2 Phy Ed students will attend the retreat. On Wednesday, December 5, all Day 1 Phy Ed students will attend. Students are required to bring their own lunch including a drink. 8th Grade Girls Basketball begins Wednesday, January 2 at 2:45 pm. An updated physical/alternate year card, code of conduct and concussion agreement form must be completed prior to beginning practice. If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Wefel at 715-424- 6730. Also, the 8 th grade students will be taking the Explore career planning and college readiness test. This will take place on the opposite day of the Courage Retreat. Students will take the test during homeroom thru 5 th hour. Students will be assigned a testing location and all 8 th grade students will eat during C lunch on their testing day. Students should bring a pencil and their own calculator. Aaron Rodgers Day is December 12 th! The East Ambassadors have put together a fundraising program to help out families during holiday time. We are encouraging students and staff to wear Packer apparel to school on December 12. Those students that participate will be in a drawing for some awesome Packer prizes that were donated from the Green Bay Packers, including an autographed Aaron Rodgers picture! For every staff member and student that dresses in Packer clothing, Element Mobile will donate $1.00 towards families in need. Bullseye Credit Union, Ritchay Funeral Home and Kathi Hintz will also be contributing to the cause. If we have a high amount of participation, we could raise $1,600 this holiday season! We are partnering with Hope s Door and the money raised will go towards purchasing food baskets and gift items for families in our community. Wear your Packer clothing on 12-12-12!!

Candy Gram Fundraiser (Dec. 10-19) - Students and parents can purchase Candy Grams to be delivered the week of December 17 during homeroom. Candy Grams will cost $.50 each. If you are interested in sending a Candy Gram to your student, please fill out the form below and return it to the East Junior High office by December 19. Candy gram orders can be dropped off or mailed to East Junior High, 311 Lincoln Street. Please include the form and payment with your order. All of the money collected will go toward purchasing gifts and food for Junior High families currently having financial difficulties.
