St Stephen s School ST STEPHENS S SCHOOL, DUNCRAIG SPORT OVERVIEW 2018 St Stephen s School offers a wide range of sporting opportunities for students across all year groups to get involved in. Below is an outline of sporting events/competitions that are occurring throughout the year. We have included approximate timeframes please refer to the school calendar for the actual dates. Any questions regarding Sport at St Stephens School please contact either: Anna Pargeter: Sports Coordinator Matthew Richmond: HOLA of HPE Anna.Pargeter@ststephens.wa.edu.au Matthew.Richmond@ststephens.wa.edu.au Academic Term 1 (February - April 2018) Summer CAS (Coastal Associated Schools) Sport Competition (week 3-9) The following teams and sports are played: Junior (Yr8-9) Yr 8/9 Girls Touch Football Yr 8/9 Cricket Yr 8/9 Boys Tennis Yr 8/9 Girls Tennis Yr 8 Girls Basketball Yr 9 Girls Basketball Yr 8 Boys Basketball Yr 9 Boys Basketball Senior (Yr10-12) Senior Girls Touch Football Senior Boys Volleyball Senior Girls Volleyball Senior Boys Basketball Senior Girls Basketball Students have the opportunity to compete in a competitive, weekly interschool sports team that play against other ACC sub association schools including St Marks, Prendiville, Irene McCormack, Peter Moyes and Lake Joondalup. Teams play all games from 4-5pm at Home or Away venues on the following days: Seniors Tuesday Juniors Wednesday All team lists, coaches, and term fixtures can be accessed in documents on Seqta. All games scheduled away students will depart St Stephens from the turning circle at 3.30pm (excluding games against Irene McCormack and Peter Moyes where the bus will depart at 3pm, due to longer travel times) and return at approx. 5.30pm. Graeme Wood Shield; Twenty20 school cricket competition week 3 Senior boy s teams compete in a round robin, consisting of 3 rounds. At the end of round 3, the 1st and 2nd placed sides from each pool will go through to Knockout finals. Games are played at school s home grounds, starting at 1pm 4pm. Senior Boys Football: REDIMED competition week 4 Senior boy s teams compete in a round robin, consisting of 3 rounds. At the end of round 3, the 1st and 2nd placed sides from each pool will go through to Knockout finals. Yr 11/12 PE Studies AIS Tour week 5 Selected students in the current physical education studies classes have the option to attend the AIS tour. Students from both campuses combine for this tour.
Champion School Yr 12 (ATAR PES) Badminton competition week 8 (all day) Yr 12 Physical Education ATAR students compete in the doubles competition at Kingsway Centre, as part of their Performance Assessment. Modified round robin games, doubles only play up to 12 points. Top finishing doubles move through to play offs. ACC Interschool A Division Swimming Carnival week 8 (all day) Yr 7 Lightning Carnival week 10 (all day) One-day carnival that the whole year group participates in. The aim is to give students of all abilities the opportunity to participate in their chosen sport and to represent their school. Numerous senior students assist with coaching and umpiring. Academic Term 2 (April - July 2018) Inter-house Cross Country week 1 (Friday, May 4) Boys and Girls compete in a 3.5km run around the School area. Top 10 finishing students in each age group gain a priority start. SSWA Cross Country week 3 (Friday, May 18 - McGillivray Oval) ACC Cross Country week 5 (Thursday, May 31 - Perry Lakes Reserve)
Yr 10 School Boys AFL Cup June, week 7 (all day) One day AFL competition for year 10 boy s teams. Teams play round robin matches against other northern schools. The winners of the four ACC groups will participate in an ACC finalist carnival held at a later date. Mixed Hockey Challenge week 9 (Girls) and week 10 (boys) One-day junior hockey competition for boys and girls teams. The top two teams from this carnival gain automatic entry to the semifinals of the School Sport WA Champion Schools Competition (Boys David Bell Cup, Girls Buchanan Cup). Girls AFL Introduction Academic Term 3 (July - September 2018) Sunsmart WA School Surfing Titles week 4 The SunSmart WA School Surfing Titles is the state s biggest participation based surfing event and students will compete for a chance to represent WA at the Australian Junior Surfing Titles, held on North Stradbroke Island, QLD in December. Champion School Open (Yr 12) Touch Football Competition week 7 (ATAR PES - students only) Yr12 Physical Education ATAR students compete in this competition at George Burnett Park as part of their Performance Assessment. Boys and Girls teams will be entered, and they will compete in a round robin competition. Finals are played on the following Monday. WA Volleyball Schools Cup week 7 (Thursday to Sunday) The WA Volleyball Cup is the biggest volleyball tournament for high school students in Western Australia. All high schools in WA are encouraged to enter teams across a wide range of divisions and age groups, as there is something to suit all abilities. SSWA Jnr Water Polo Competition week 10 Boys and Girls teams from year 7, 8 and 9 play in a one-day carnival that includes round robin games, held at HBF Stadium. Students will need to pay for pool entry. Academic Term 4 (October - December 2018) Inter-house Triathlon week 3 (October 25) 300m swim, 10km bike and 3km run. Students can enter and compete as an individual or in a team. This event is held out at Champion Lakes Regatta Centre, Armadale. Interschool Triathlon week 6 (all day) Australian Volleyball School Cup (Melbourne) week 10 (September 20/21) This event is the largest school-based sporting event in the Southern Hemisphere, attracting teams from across Australia, plus international teams. Teams are entered into a number of different age groups and divisions. They play in a round robin competition across 3 venues. Dates to be advised. St Stephen s School
