INTERNATIONAL BROCHURE

INTRODUCTION About Us BCS is a highly successful Independent school in the UK. The school provides day and boarding education for over 350 boys and girls aged 11 to 18. BCS strives to find the best in everyone and has a strong global inclusive philosophy based on a traditional UK education. BCS is located net to the golden sandy beaches of Bournemouth on the South Coast of England. Accomodation Following a 2 million investment, BCS has grown and improved the boarding accommodation. Many of the new rooms are ensuite. We operate a buddy system where each new student joining the school has a more eperienced student to look after them and show them around. All students in their first few days take part in an induction programme. Most students will be in single rooms or will share with one other student. The very youngest boarders may be in rooms with a maimum of four or five students per room. There is a Head of Boarding and full time house parents for both boys and girls. The assistant house parents all live in the boarding houses. No eeat weekends All rooms are secure and students can bring their own laptops, WIFI is available throughout the accommodation. Students will have the opportunity to join a boarding community which was highly praised in the March 2015 Boarding Inspection. Please see our website for the full Inspection Report. There is separate accommodation for boys and girls, both of which are located within the School grounds. Each have their own TV rooms, kitchens and common areas. 3

DIVERSITY Boarding Community Diversity We provide Tier 4 sponsorship At BCS, we pride ourselves on the wide range of countries our students come from, most of whom choose to reside within the Boarding Houses. Being immersed in a school where the majority of students are British ensures that the International Students have quicker access to English speaking skills and comprehension. They are fully integrated into life at BCS and are strongly encouraged to speak English at all times. BOARDING COMMUNITY NATIONALITIES Whilst BCS has a strength in attracting students from certain core countries, it is also home to a diverse range of countries that include the likes of Sweden, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Bermuda and the USA. We take great care to build successful, inclusive relationships with agents worldwide to ensure we provide options for all of our students. ACTIVITIES Co-Curricular Activities For the last hour of the school day (Monday to Thursday) BCS pupils have the opportunity to choose which activity they would like to participate in. All activities are included within the Schools fees and are changed on a termly basis. There is always plenty to choose from: No Saturday School Science Junior Science Club Marine Biology Astronomy and Space Club CREST Science Award Science Debate Sports Football Running Triathlon Rugby Netball Basketball Surf club Horse Riding Swimming Sports Leadership Award Gym Art & Technology Skateboard Making Electric Car Club Boarders Food Technology Art Club Community Arts Music & Performing Arts School Musical School Play Stage Costume and Make-Up School Orchestra Rock Club Shakespeare Play Junior Play Improvisation and Drama Sport Academies The BCS Sports Academy is a unique programme whereby pupils can combine their studies with elite coaching from professionals in a number of sports. A personal school timetable gives talented sportsmen and women the opportunity to receive both coaching and an ecellent education during school hours, allowing for a life outside of school and training. Many of the Academies are directly linked to professional organisations, including Premier League Football Clubs, Christchurch Rowing Club and Bath Rugby Club. Entry into the Academy is subject to the student s attainment in the specific sport and comes at an additional cost. Further details can be located within the Sports Academies Brochure. Weekend Events Use of school facilities at evenings and weekends There are plenty of weekend activities the boarders can get involved in. Local activities include shopping trips, walks to the beach, cinema trips or bowling. Every other weekend there is always one Key Activity such as go karting, paintballing, paddle boarding, driving eperiences or trips to the theatre. There are also day trips to London and other local cities, where our boarders can enjoy some of the major tourist attractions and eperience other areas of the UK. Other Activities include language lessons for beginners, short stories and poetry writing, chess and volunteering. On the weekends without a Key Activity, Sundays are quite relaed with the sports hall, gym and swimming pool available to boarders as well as walks on the beach just 5 minutes away. Often you will find boarders in the boarding houses, completing homework, reading, and playing in the games room. 6 7
