PEKIN COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL PCHS Mission: In partnership with the community, we engage, prepare and empower our students for a lifetime of success through diverse opportunities. Dragon News May 2018 Pekin Community High School is a Title One school and, as such, receives federal funds. These funds are spent in accordance with Title One guidelines and are used with the overarching goal for every child to meet state academic achievement standards. Title I provides the programs and resources for students to meet this goal. 1:1 is coming to Pekin High School Pekin Community High School is going 1:1 starting in the 2018-2019 school year. All students will be issued a Chromebook that they will use daily at school and at home. At home, students will have the same filtered and secure internet access as they have in school. JROTC As we enter into the month of May and the end of the school year I wanted to highlight a few events. **Awards Ceremony- Date: Thursday May 10th at 5:30PM. Parents are invited to attend with family and friends. Cadets will be here after school for a rehearsal leading up to the start at 5:30PM. ** Flag Placing at Lakeview Cemetery- Date: Saturday May 26th at 8:00AM. Athletic Department: The Spring Sports Awards Night will be held on Monday, May 21, 2018, at 7:00 p.m., in the Hawkins Gym. Athletes from the following teams will be acknowledged and receive their awards: Boys Track and Field Girls Track and Field Boys Tennis Baseball Softball Girls Soccer Refreshments will be served following the ceremony in the cafeteria. Buses run two hours later than a regular day Early bird PE starts at 9:27 am and early bird students can enter at the canopy entrance starting at 9:10 am. Breakfast Breakfast is available every morning beginning at 7:00 am for $1.25. If you qualify for free lunch your breakfast is free, or reduced lunch your breakfast is $.30.
