SMT. PARMESWARIDEVI DURGADUTT TIBREWALA LIONS JUHU COLLEGE COLLEGE CODE: B19 ANNUAL REPORT 2017-2018 NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME The National Service Scheme was started by government of India, Ministry of Education and cultural, Government in the year 1969 in 37 selected universities. Our university has been participating in the scheme right from its inception. At present the scheme is run by the Ministry of youth affairs & sports in central government and department of higher & technical in state government. At present around 232 college of our University are implementing this scheme through 320 units with the student strength of 36000. In our college we also have NSS unit which work for the overall development of student personality. Under the programme officer Sanjay Mishra. Around 100 student are there in the NSS unit. Under this scheme we conducted number of programs. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES 1. Understand the community in which they work. 2. Understand themselves in relation to their community. 3. Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem solving process. 4. Develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility. 5. Utilize their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problem. 6. Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters. NSS REGULAR PROGRAM NSS units works on three bases that is: AREA BASED ACTIVITY COLLEGE LEVEL ACTIVITY UNIVERSITY LEVEL ACTIVITY The various activity which have been conducted are as follows: AREA BASED ACTVITIES TREE PLANTATION Tree plantation activity was organized by NSS units which was held in Thakre Udyan, Opposite to Bombay Cambridge School Campus on 7 th July 2017. 28 NSS volunteer had participated for planting trees. 17 girls and 11 boys participated in this event. The main theme of the event was Clean City, Green City.

ELECTRICITY PROJECT OF 2017-18 We started energy saving project from 17 th July 2017 to 31st January 2018.There were 6 groups each group consisted of 10 to 11 volunteers. Each student have covered 7 houses, total 504 houses were covered & total 734 units were saved. HEALTH CHECK UP CAMP On 13 th August 2017 Health check up camp was held. The event started at 9 a.m. 10 student participated in this event. The NSS volunteers were divided into different section like registration, maintaining discipline and helping doctors. There were 5 section for health check up which included diabetes check up, full Body checkup, Back problem, neck and eye checkup. There was also free distribution of spectacles. The event ended at 4 p.m. The NSS work was appreciated by lion s club of millennium. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Rally The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Rally was conducted in adopted area J. B. Nagar on 15 th August 2017. 33 boys and 37 girls participated in this event. The aim of this activity was to spread the awareness of cleanliness.

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Adopted Area) Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was conducted in the adopted area on 26 th August 2017. 52 NSS volunteers participated in this event. GANPATI IMMERSION In this activity the responsibility of NSS volunteers was to control the traffic for a day. Around 55 volunteers were involved in this activity. Volunteers controlled the traffic from Marol pipeline to J.B. Nagar on 26 th,29 th August 2017 and 1 st & 5 th September 2017.

Waste Management Stall at NSCI On 2 nd and 3 rd September 2017 Waste Management Stall was held. 4 NSS volunteers visited. It took place at Worli (sardar vallabai stadium). This event was organized to spread awareness amongst the people for management of waste. SWACHH BHARAT ABHIYAN (Juhu Beach Cleaning) It was held on 6th September 2017. 25volunteers participated in this activity.there were 13 girls and 12 boys. They cleaned the garbage that was accumulated after Ganpati immersion. The NSS volunteers had actively participated in this activity. Friendship Day The event was held on 18 th September 2017 at Dadar west. In this event they explained about Friendship. 25 Volunteers attended the workshop.

Gender Workshop The workshop took place on 22 nd and 23 rd September at Bhandup RADAV College. 20 volunteers attended the workshop from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The topics covered in the workshop were gender identification and difference between gender and sex. The motive of the workshop was to create awareness and sexual harassment is facsed by both males and females. Which students represented in a form of street play. WASTE MANAGEMENT DOOR TO DOOR CAMPAIGN Our NSS Unit Organised waste management program from 24 th September to 28 th September 2017. Our volunteers went door to door to explain about waste management. They descried about 3 types of waste like dry waste, wet waste and E-waste. They specifically explained all the people those who are residing near by our college they played a street play on E-waste management for the understanding of waste electronics material. It was useful and benefitted awareness program for our college student as well as residentials over here. HIV/AIDS RALLY On 7 th December 2017 HIV/AIDS RALLY activity was organized by the NSS volunteers. 72 volunteers had participated in this Rally. The aim of this Rally was to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS in our society.

HIV/AIDS STREET PLAY Street play was organized in our college on 8 th December 2017. The main aim for the street play was to spread HIV/AIDS awareness among the society.

POSTER SHOWING AT METRO STATION 27 volunteers went to J.B.Nagar metro station and showed posters to the commuters. These posters were based on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. This activity was organized on 11 th January 2018. STREET PLAY ANTI-TOBACCO Street play on anti-tobacco was held on 31 st January 2018.It was conducted at our adopted area (Lelewadi). Many passerby and strangers were attracted to this play. 25 Volunteers participated in this event. PAPER BAG DISTRIBUTION Paper bag distribution activity was conducted on 10 th February 2018.This activity included making bags out of newspaper to send the message to the people of our society that we should try to save our environment by using paper bags instead of plastic bags. 58 volunteers participated in this activity and made 10,000 paper bags and distributed in the nearby local market. They explained the vendors about harmful effects of using plastic bags and encouraged them to use paper bags.

COLLEGE LEVEL ACTIVITIES YOGA DAY On 21 st June 2017 Yoga day was celebrated. 22 boys & 19 girls participated in this activity. Yoga Asana & Various benefits of yoga was explained in this session. Waste Management Workshop Waste Management workshop was conducted in our college seminar hall on 10 th august 2017. Our trustee Vishal Tibrewalaji took session on waste management. 68 Students attended the workshop.

SWACHH BHARAT ABHIYAN On 14 th August 2017 this event took place in the college, where the NSS volunteers cleaned the college campus. 25 boys and 35 girls participated in this event. INDEPENDENCE DAY On 15 th August 2017 our college had organized Independence Day. 48 NSS volunteers had participated in this activity, the main duty was to maintain discipline in the college campus. BLOOD DONATION On 8 th September 2017 our NSS unit had organized blood donation campaign. It was an inspirational drive for the youth students. By donating their blood, they are helping to the

patients who are suffering from cancer and other diseases. 164 units of blood were collected in this drive. 80 Volunteers had participated in this activity. Members of lions club had also come forward for donating blood. CONSTITUTION DAY On 26 th November 2017 Constitution DAY was celebrated. Elocution Competition was Organized On This Day. 15 boys And 20 girls Participated in this Event. POSTER MAKING COMPETITION

On 4 th December 2017 Poster making competition was organized by the RRC members. The topic for the competition was AIDS Awareness. In this competition there were 32 participants. Certificates were also distributed to the participants. Yuvak-Yuvati Mela Yuvak-Yuavti Mela was conducted on 12 th December 2017 in the college campus. In this event there was a discussion about movies and their problems. 44 Volunteers attended the program. Mitwa. It was conducted on 12 th December 2017 in our college. The motive of the event was to discuss the relationships. Commitment and feelings.44 Volunteers attended the workshop.

Film Screening. Film screening was held on 14 th December 2017 in seminar room of our college. In which short film documentaries were shown and discussion about influence of men and women in the society.40 Volunteers attended the program Road Safety (Basic training) On 5 th January 2018 It was held. 35 volunteers participated in this training. This event took place in the seminar room of our college. Students were provided with training completion certificate at the end of the session. ANNUAL DAY (SECURITY) On 16 th January 2018 annual day was held in our college. 52 volunteers participated in this activity. The role of NSS volunteers was to maintain discipline and manage the crowd. REPUBLIC DAY Our college had celebrated Republic Day on 26 th January 2018. 41 volunteers had participated in this activity. The duty of the NSS volunteers was to maintain discipline.

Blood Donation(J.J Hospital) UNIVERSITY LEVEL Blood donation event was held on 7 th June 2017 at Andheri conducted by J.J. Hospital. 15 volunteers attended this activity. FOUNDATION DAY On 17 th July 2017 Foundation Day Was Held at Mumbai University Kalina Campus. 7 boys & 5 girls Attended the Foundation Day. Rally for River Rally for river was held on 1 st September 2017 covering area from Andheri to D.N nagar. 60 volunteers participated in the event. The aim of this event was to protect our rivers.

Award Function The Award Function took place on 24 th September 2017 at Churchgate. 30 Volunteers attended the function. Education Minister Shri.Vinod Tawde sir was chief guest of the event and award were given to various Ex-NSS volunteers for their contribution. BHAJAN SANDHYA On 2 nd October 2017 Bhajan Sandhya was Held At Gateway Of India by University Of Mumbai. Many Colleges had Participated In this Event.The event started At 3.30 p.m. 11 boys and 9 girls Participated in this event. The event ended at 7pm. Blood donation (Lions Club)

Blood donation took place on 3 rd October 2017 at Andheri conducted by Lions Club and NSS volunteers. The aim of the event was to help the patients. 22 volunteers participated in the event. Walkthon Rally(blind walk rally) Walkathon Rally was Held on 12 th October 2017 from Mumbai University Kalina Campus to Bandra (E). 12 boys & 15 girls Attended the Walkathon rally.

Anti-Dowry Rally(Sathaye college) Sathye college conducted Anti-Dowry Rally on 13 th December 2017. 25 Volunteers attended the event. The motive of the Rally was to stop all or prevent taking and giving of dowry. Marathon Race Marathon race was conducted at Juhu beach on 7 th January 2018. 35 Volunteers participated in this activity. There was three group of race for 2.5 km, 5km and 10 km. RUN FOR NATION Mumbai Marathon was held on 8 th Jan 2018 at Juhu beach.14 Volunteers Participated In this activity. It Started At 7 am. Three students of our college completed half marathon race. Girls Hostel Inauguration The event took place on 25 th January 2018 at Churchgate. The event was only for girls. 28 Volunteers attended this event. The inauguration was done by Education Minister Shri. Vinod Tawde and it was digital inauguration. All Religion Prayer Meet The event took place at R.D National college at 30 th January 2018. The motive of the event was to bring unity between people of different religion. All religion prayer were done. 10 Volunteers attended the event.

Waste Management Workshop The event took place on 7 th and 8 th February 2018 at M.G Mittal college. 3 Volunteers attended the event. The motive of the event was to teach how to compost and to spread awareness about BMC and their rules and regulations. Disaster Management The event was held in R.D National college on 13 th and 14 th February 2018. In the event they explained the meaning and usage of first aid and explained different concepts and body Healing. 2 Volunteers attended the event.
