Honors Geometry Summer 2018 Students will receive a full HONORS credit for successfully completing this course Students will still be required to take a credit of math through their senior year, regardless of meeting the minimum 4 credits (Moon Valley specific, requirements vary by school. Please reach out to your student s counselor for information) This will allow students to take an extra Advanced Placement (AP) Math course by their Senior year in high school.

Why is taking an extra AP class important? AP classes are weighted differently Regular Class: 4 points Honors Class: 5 points AP Class: 6 points The more AP classes a student takes, the higher your Weighted GPA Weighted GPA is used to calculate Class Rank Higher the Class Rank = more scholarship opportunities for post secondary education If your student is, or is planning on being, in the top 1% of their class, taking an extra AP class will help!

Benefits of the Advanced Placement Programs Provides students with a head start on college Allows students the opportunity to earn college credits (through AP testing) which expedites getting to upper-level courses in college and save money on college

More Benefits of the Advanced Placement Program Gain valuable, rewarding knowledge Fulfill a foreign language requirement Experience college-level exams Increase chance for success in college

More Benefits of the Advanced Placement Program Currently no cost for exams in our district Go to www.princetonreview.com or collegeboard.com/apcreditpolicy to see how many college credits can be earned based on scores and which colleges accept these credits (out of state schools) Go to aztransfer.com to see how many credits students can earn for high AP test scores (in-state schools)
