DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, HYDERABAD EUPHORIA - Special Edition The power of the human will to compete and the drive to excel beyond the body s normal capabilities is most beautifully demonstrated in the arena of sport. - Aimee Mullins The three-day sports extravaganza came to an end on 5th August, 2017 at Delhi Public School, Hyderabad. Master B. Sai Praneeth, an International Badminton Player, kindly consented to be the chief guest for the evening. Ms. Geetha Vishwanathan, Principal DPS Hyderabad, graced the occasion. The students of 48 different schools participated in five different disciplines stretched over three days. The participation was overwhelming with 16 boys team and 14 girls team in basketball comprising of 12 members each, 11 cricket teams with 15 members each and 15 football teams with 12 members each. In individual events, 27 boys and 26 girls battled it out on the tennis court and athletes of 16 schools raced against each other in the track events to win a place on the podium. In total we had 915 participants in the campus of DPS Hyderabad. We at DPS believe in playing a fair game and so we had a team of officials for the different disciplines from the state level to conduct the games. The school adorned a festive look to welcome the participating schools. A brigade of volunteers were helping and guiding the participants. On the first day, the DPS students watched the matches being conducted at three different venues and encouraged the participants. The participants were at their best exhibiting the spirit of competition and enthusiasm. The students of The Future Kids stole the show by winning the finals of the Basketball - boys and girls category, Team DPS Hyderabad bagged the Runner-up in the same. Glendale Academy won the cricket trophy by beating Oakridge International, Gachibowli. Football trophy was bagged by Glendale Academy by beating NASR Boys. Tennis trophy was won by DPS Hyderabad by beating Chirec International and Tennis girls trophy won by Sri Sai Saraswathi Niketan by beating The Unicent, Kompally. In athletics, DPS Hyderabad stole show by bagging more number of medals. Over all School trophy went to DPS Hyderabad. This fest has taught the participants how to work in harmony with other people, exert themselves whenever necessary, accept defeats with equal ease and work as a consolidated unit. In the long run the active and continued participation in sports and athletics would pay a rich dividend in terms of fitness, well-being and happiness. 1
