The Commencement Ceremony: The Anderson High School Commencement is a ceremony, not a celebration, and will be conducted with dignity and respect. Graduates, parents and guests are reminded 2

that out of respect to other classmates, anything that distracts from the dignity of the ceremony will not be permitted. Since commencement is a formal ceremony involving as many as 300 students, certain standards have been established. Participation in the ceremony is optional. Graduates wishing to participate must adhere to the guidelines and rules established by the school. Commencement Speakers: Three student speakers will be selected. The speeches include a welcome to the assembly, a reflection over the past four years, and a glimpse into the future. Students who wish to be a commencement speaker must complete an application and audition before a faculty panel. The decision of the panel is final. Applications are available on the student Schoology page, Anderson In The Know. Graduation Announcements: Seniors who have ordered graduation announcements should expect to receive them in March. If you need extra announcements, visit the Graduate Services office on Main Street in Newtown (513-272-5890) http://www.graduateserviceinc.com. Students in National Honor Society and Cum Laude Society may wear their pins on the left front of their graduation gown. Nothing else may be worn on the graduation gown (ex. corsages, necklaces, etc.) Caps and Gowns will be distributed on May 1st. Seniors should try on their cap and gown as soon as possible to be sure it fits. Students must wear their cap, tassel and rented gown from Graduate Services. If you have not placed your order, please contact Graduate Services at 272-5890 immediately.
