Oak Park Ave. Tinley Park, IL 60477 (708) 614-4510 Eighth Grade Activities and Eligibility Information: Class of 2018 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS In order to participate in graduation activities, students are required to meet our eligibility requirements. Students must have a minimum cumulative 1.75 grade point average during their 8 th grade year, as well as a minimum cumulative 1.75 grade point average overall for their years at Central, in order to participate in the Graduation Ceremony. Students who behave inappropriately may become ineligible for any or all of the culminating activities, pending a final review by the administration. Proper student behavior includes showing respect for peers and staff at all times. Central s administration makes the final decision for any and all student participation in graduation activities, including the privilege of participating in the graduation ceremony. All district and school fees must be paid prior to the ceremony. GRADUATION GOWN MEASUREMENT: Tuesday, January 23, 2018 Students will be measured by the E.R. Moore Company during their lunch time. In the event that any student is absent on gown measuring day, s/he will be measured by office personnel at a later date. The gowns will be distributed on May 17 th. NJHS members will receive an honor stole to use if they have achieved the requirements necessary to merit this recognition. Information on the care of the gown is included with the package. Students do not wear graduation caps. The gown s color this year is Navy. GRADUATION PACKET & FEE The graduation fee of $40 covers the cost of the graduation gown, 8 th grade t-shirt and the 8 th grade breakfast. Diplomas, diploma covers and all printing costs are provided by the Board of Education. Each graduate will receive a packet containing their gown and graduation tickets on May 17th. RECOGNITION NIGHT: Thursday, May 17, 2018 6:00 pm in the CMS Cafetorium The 8 th grade Recognition Night will be a celebratory evening to honor and recognize Central s top students in the areas of academics, service, citizenship and athletics. Ceremony: Door #3 and #7 (south end of the building) will open at 6:00 p.m. for graduation. Admission is by ticket only. Ticket info will be sent to students and parents in the next few weeks. Students are expected to report to the Central Middle School main hallway by 6:00 p.m. for line-up and will remain there until the ceremony begins. Students should leave personal belongings (cell phones, cameras, etc.) with their family members. Pictures: A photographer from Tom Killoran Photography will be available to take each student s picture as they receive their diploma on stage. More picture information will be sent to students and parents in the next few weeks. We will also be providing an 8 th grade class panoramic picture. Order forms for families at the cost of $15 will be available. You are welcome to take your own photos in the gym and outside after the ceremony. *No photos in graduation seating area. Grad Attire: Appropriate attire under the graduation gown is expected. A collared shirt and tie for boys looks very nice under the gown since boys gowns have no collars. The girls will receive a collar with their gown package. Girls should wear shoes which are easy to walk up and down stairs in. Flip flops are not allowed to be worn at the ceremony due to distractions from the general appearance of the graduate. Flowers, balloons, noisemakers, and other public displays that single out particular students during the ceremony are not allowed. We kindly ask that you take these items back to your car if we see them in the building. Your cooperation is appreciated.
