Hands-On Science! Earlier this week our 3 rd graders went to Mitchell Creek to learn about how the biomass of the invertebrates and the health of the vegetation in and around the creek determines the quality of the water and the health of the creek. These are important things to know especially since we live in the valley that is the source of the water for the Colorado River. Understanding water conservation and how to keep our water supply clean is very important for our children to know now and in the future. Many thanks to the anonymous parents for the pre-holiday treat. We are so grateful for your thoughtfulness! - The SSCS Crew Spreading the Joy of Christmas! Coming soon Christmas Gift Baskets for Families in Need. As Pope Francis says, To change the world we must be good to those who cannot repay us. Each year through the generosity of our students and parents, we are able to share the spirit of Christmas with local families in need. Each class adopts a family who has fallen on hard times. These needy families submit a Christmas wish list, and then SSCS students/families donate food, clothing, toys and gift cards to help these families have a good Christmas. We would like to encourage you to talk about the idea of helping those who are less fortunate with your child. Please consider creating a list of household chores that your child could do to earn money to buy a gift for a someone in need. Look for more information after Thanksgiving break.

I am happy to join the St. Stephen s School Staff as the new administrative assistant! For the past year I have been working at St. Stephen s Church as the bookkeeper. I have two children in the school, Emiliano in 2 nd grade and Sofia in 5 th grade, so I am familiar with the school and some of the families. I look forward to this new endeavor and look forward to working with our wonderful staff and families. In an effort to better serve the needs or our SSCS families by providing the consistency of one person at our front desk Mrs. Ruiz is now working at the school full-time. Ms. Arahana Contreras is currently working part time at the parish office, as their bookkeeper, while she finishes her college degree.
