It can t possibly be that time already, is it? As much as I love sunshine & warm weather, I am eager to get back to the buzz of teenagers in the hallways, the excitement of teachers (and parents) on the first day of school, wearing cozy, red sweatshirts at a brisk Friday night football game, and the roar of our Lion fans cheering on our fall teams. And studying too - of course! Sometimes when we are in the middle of things, we forget how to take it all in and appreciate the moment for what it is. If we are all living here in Wisconsin, attending this beautiful high school everyday and surrounding ourselves with people who care about us - we need to be counting our blessings. High school goes too fast, in fact, it all does. So I challenge you this year to really take stock of what is important. What will mean something 10 years from now for your student? What habits and character traits that they establish now will take them the furthest in life? What experiences, opportunities and connections do they really need to embrace to build confidence for their adult life? As hard as it can be, let your child fully live their own high school experience. They will be more emotionally fulfilled adults when they know that they have achieved their own successes and overcome their own setbacks. Be there for them but let them live the experiences. Keep it fun, keep it all in perspective and keep focused on what really matters. We re all in this together so let s make this year the best one yet! As always, I try to offer a variety of ways to communicate with families and I encourage you to stay as actively involved with your high school student as possible. With so many fresh ideas to discuss and new ideas to gather, I highly encourage you to join me for as many of the following opportunities as possible. I look forward to staying connected with each and every one of you. Deb Janke Save the Date: Graduation 2019 Friday, May 24th at 6:30 pm
