LEADERSHIP NEWS NEWS Thursday Thursday December 10 th 11 April th 2014 2014 / Issue / Issue 216 Dear Families As we conclude our school year we have been surrounded by many of our annual rituals. Biannual Advent Carols: What an incredible evening! The feedback from families, staff and children has been overwhelmingly positive. We were so proud of the creativity of our community, particularly our children, in displaying their talents so generously in a wonderful array of performances. Our thanks to Mrs Megan Isaacson for coordinating the event and enabling our children to shine. We also acknowledge our teachers for their willingness to embrace a new format so successfully. It was a terrific way to conclude our school year and we are grateful once again for the incredible support from families in assisting with costumes and ensuring children attended and supported their classmates. We look forward to our School Concert next year during Term 3! Meet The Teacher: It was exciting witnessing the new connections being established last week when our children moved to their new Teachers for 2015. We acknowledge the trepidation that is attached to this process, but were greatly affirmed by the resilience and trust displayed by our children in being open to establishing new friendships and getting to know their new teacher/s. Year 7 Graduation: What a wonderful celebration last night in the SAMMAT when we recognised our Class of 2014. It was an opportunity to thank God for the gifts that our Yr 7 s have generously shared at our school and to seek God s blessing upon them as they venture into new educational settings in 2015 and beyond. We also acknowledged a number of families who conclude their association with St Brigid s with their child moving into their secondary schooling. Such a ceremony reminds us of the deep connections which we share with our families, children and staff. A huge thank you to these families for their generous service to our school over many years. We also take this opportunity to extend our thanks to Franca Hall and a number of Year 6 parents who assisted with decorating the Gawler Arms for our graduating students. Finally, congratulations to our graduates of 2014, you are a terrific credit to yourselves, your families and your teachers. Our school is proud of your achievements, but more importantly we are proud that you have grown up to become good people. End of Year Mass: Today we gathered together as a whole school to thank our generous God for a successful 2014. Our gathering commenced with our Volunteer Morning Tea where our staff provided goodies to our families as a thankyou for the wonderful support we have received during the year. During the Mass our children sang enthusiastically, our musicians played beautifully and we were able to pray for our departing Year 7 children and acknowledge our current Year 6 cohort as our future leaders. We passed over the Defence Force Family Shield to the next year level and we presented our two Annn Starrs recipients with their badges and thanked Tom and Caitlin for their leadership during 2014. We take this opportunity to congratulate Dominique Smith and Jonathon Pellizzari on being selected as our 2015 Ann Starrs leaders and look forward to them sharing their talents for the benefit of our school family. LEADERSHIP NEWS cont. Farewell: As we conclude 2014 we say goodbye and thank the following staff for their contribution at St Brigid s Catholic School: Mrs Donna Reithmuller: Donna took leave from St Brigid s this year to undertake a teaching position at her children s school in the Barossa Valley. We congratulate Donna for this contract extending into a permanent position. Donna played a significant role in the learning dimension of our school and her legacy in establishing significant structures and accountability processes has been truly appreciated. We wish her every success and continued growth as an amazing educator into the future. Mrs Leanne Pfeiffer: Leanne stepped in at short notice to undertake a one year contract at St Brigid s and quickly immersed herself in the life of our school. Her commitment to her students and her capacity to work collaboratively with our Junior Primary Team is testimony to her commitment to her vocation as an educator in a Catholic school. We wish Leanne every blessing in her future endeavours and thank her for her dedication to our school community. Christmas Mass Times: Christmas Eve 9:30am - 10:30am 7:00pm 11:30pm Christmas Day 8:00am and 10:00am Giving Tree: A huge thankyou for your generosity St Vinnies were very grateful for all your donations for the Giving Tree. Christmas Blessing: On behalf of our staff I extend a personal thanks to our school community for their ongoing support of our work together in developing energetic, faith filled, optimistic, caring and intelligent children. Considering current world events, we continue to give thanks to God for enabling our lives to be entwined and to enjoy the blessings which we experience at St Brigid s Catholic School. May you enjoy wonderful family time over the Christmas season and we hope the kindness you've given to others returns many times to you during 2015! Confession at Ss Peter and Paul s Family Mass at St Brigid s SAMMAT Christmas Carols at Ss Peter and Paul s followed by Midnight Mass Mass at Ss Peter and Paul s Our Deepest Condolences: We extend our deepest condolences to Russell Partridge and his children, Patric (Yr 3/4C), Kieran (Rec B) and Ethan on the tragic loss of their wife and mum. We trust that God will embrace this family with his tender love and enable all of us to share in their grief at this time. May Sian rest in peace.
