Section IX NYSPHSAA Representatives Roberta Greene and Jim Wolfe Jim Wolfe reviewed the general action items that were discussed and approved at the May NYSPHSAA meeting. Robbie Greene reviewed the Discussion/ Information Items that were presented and needed to go back to the Leagues for discussion and a June vote of the Athletic Council. Refer to the Items presented to the Athletic Council. The Leagues need to look at the Impact Program. 7. NYSPHSAA Office Report - Robert Zayas The following items were discussed and reviewed: a. NYSPHSAA endorsement of USA Football s HEADS UP Program b. Site selection for the NYSPHSAA Championships c. Rule waiver for the sub Varsity Soccer d. Soccer Uniform Rule regarding jersey and socks e. Revision of NYSPHSAA Tennis Championships f. NYSPHSAA Membership meeting questions/ concerns g. The non-public schools h. Scholar-Athlete Competition vs Recognition i. Home School Legislation contact your representatives

8. Combining of Teams Antonia Woody and Tim Bult Motion to approve by Sean Michel, second by Ivan Katz. Fred Ahart discussed/ reviewed the Roscoe/Downsville/Livingston Manor Girls Golf situation. Ivan Katz discussed his concerns and that the Section IX policy was created to prevent the Super Powers. He stated that the new policy is having unintended consequences and that more thought is needed with the individual sports. Greg Ransom noted that he attended an appeals hearing at NYSPHSAA, Latham, NY. The committee will review Roscoe s situation. Motion by Fred Ahart, second by Ivan Katz to withdraw until the committee meets, Girls Golf Roscoe/ Downsville/Livingston Manor. Back to the original Motion. Motion to approve with change by Sean Michel, second by Ivan Katz. All in favor. Motion Carried. 9. Section Non- Public School Classification Committee Tom Cassata Motion to approve John Coleman Catholic High School from a Class B to a Class C for Girls Basketball was made by Tom Cassata, 2 nd by Toni Woody. All in Favor. Motion Carried. 10. Back from the Leagues: a. APHERD and COA Dues motion by Tom Cassata, second by Toni Woody to approve the Section IX to pay the dues for the school districts if they approve that option. The school districts will be invoiced by Section IX. All in favor. Motion carried. b. Girls Gymnastics Chairpersons Nicole Pluchino, Wallkill High School. Motion to approve by Toni Woody, second by Tom Cassata. All in favor. Motion carried. The following was discussed: Steve Boucher stated Athletic Directors should be in the role of Sports Chairperson. Greg Ransom stated Athletic Directors should be the Sports Chairperson or Assistant Sports Chairperson. Mike Bellarosa stated that some of the Sports Chairpersons that are not Athletic Directors but do an exceptional job for the student athletes. Robbie Greene noted that the Sports Chairperson should be in attendance at the Section IX Meetings. The School Superintendants should be in support of the Sports Chairperson position. Chris Mayo stated that the League Sports Chairperson, who are also Athletic Directors, should work with Sectional Sports Chairpersons. Greg Ransom stated that he needs to set up the meetings with the Sports Chairpersons. c. Section IX Athletics start dates, meeting dates and sites (update). Motion to approve by John Landro, second by Ivan Katz. All in favor. Motion carried. 11. Spring Chair Reports: a. Baseball - Jeremy Weber and James Ryan Athletic Directors need to review the Thunder and Lightening Policy and the Suspended Game Policy. Back to the Leagues Seeding, Selection and Schedules b. Boys Golf Tom Howe c. Girls Golf Bill Earl The Section IX Tournament has started

d. Boys Lacrosse Bob Slate Section IX Tournament games have started. The finals are June 1, 2016, with Regionals on June 4, 2016 and the NYSPHSAA Championship at Faller Field, Middletown on June 11, 2016 e. Girls Lacrosse Wendy Crandall f. Boys Tennis Urvashi Gupta g. Track & Field Matt Hemmer and Brian Halling Class Championships are Thursday at Middletown and Friday at Kingston h. Softball Tom Cassata and Steve Boucher Section IX Championship on Saturday, May 28 at Rhinebeck and Cornwall High School. Steve Boucher discussed stream-lining the seeding process with the Sports Chairperson meeting to discuss how to proceed in the future. Greg Ransom will review. 12. Chairpersons Reports: a. Girls & Boys Modified Sports Jeremy Weber and Michelle Henn The reports were reviewed with a discussion on the items that need Athletic Council action. b. Safety Janet Carey c. Chemical Health Marco Lanzoni d. Eligibility Fred Ahart Meeting after the meeting. e. Officials Coordinator Dennis Burkett Negotiations are ongoing. f. Sportsmanship Glen Maisch Glen stated that he was retiring this year and wanted to thank everyone for all of the help they have given him. The Athletic Council applauded Glen and thanked him for his service. 15. New Business: a. Greg Ransom congratulated FDR Girls Gymnastics NYSPHSAA Scholar Athlete Team Award. b. Back to the League Jim Osborne asked the leagues to review the request of purchasing Section IX T-Shirts with the Anaconda Sports Sponsorship money.

c. Toni Woody asked if the Girls and Boys Section IX Tennis Chairperson would look into the rotation of sites. d. Jeremy Weber asked the Leagues to review an amendment to the Section IX Combining of Schools policy. Jeremy will provide the information. e. Robert Zayas reminded the school districts that the Participation Survey needs to be completed by any school district who hasn t submitted the information already. Greg Ransom requested for NYSPHSAA a list of any school district that had not already completed the survey. f. Motion to adjourn by Ivan Katz, second by Tim Bult. All in favor. Motion carried.
