I LEARN TERM 6 FOCUS: Numeracy 6 th July 2018 A message from the Headteacher: The end of term 6 is a very busy time for us with lots of activities going on daily. We had an absolutely fantastic evening of summer music and dance last night in which our pupils really did us proud. The standard of performance was exceptionally high and being held in a professional venue was a great experience for all of the pupils. We have also had two very successful induction days with our new Year 7 this week. It was great to meet all of our new pupils and of course their parents at the transition evenings. The The Headteacher s Weekly Weekly Newsletter Newsletter You will see details of our enrichment week in this week s newsletter please take particular note of the later start for school based activities during this week. We are fortunate to be running many trips and they will have different starting times being advised by the trip leader for each activity individually. We have a few spaces left for our trip to London on Thursday 19 th July to see School of Rock and would be happy to offer these to parents at a fantastic price of 37.00. The price includes your ticket and also transport to London which represents great value! If you are interested in accompanying us on this trip please email snicholas@lawnmanor.org Sandra Muir Headteacher Enrichment Week 16 th 20 th July The first Lawn Manor enrichment week is nearly here. Monday the 16 th July is the start of enrichment week where pupils will have the opportunity to try something new i.e. Gaelic football, jewellery making or something familiar like rounders. We are offering a wide range of activities and trips this week with something for everyone. There will be no lessons this week and pupils do not need to wear school uniform. The start time for pupils will also be different we will be registering pupils at 9:45 for a 10 o clock start to the activities. If your child is on a trip there will be an earlier start and this information will be given by the trip organiser. Pupils need to be suitably dressed for their chosen activity and will need to bring water, a hat and sun cream if the weather remains hot. The activities will run on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday as Tuesday is Sports Day and Friday is the last day of term. Your child will receive a letter with which activities they will be doing at the end of next week. If the later start during this week causes an issue for you then we will be operating an extended morning club in the Library for pupils to be supervised, otherwise they will be registered in central areas (not I Learn tutor) at 9.45 Dates for your Diary: Monday 16 th -Friday 20 th July Enrichment week Tuesday 17 th July Sports day Friday 20 th July Last day of Term 6 Thursday 23 rd August GCSE Results Day How to contact us: Telephone: 01793 487286 Attendance: 01793 427749 Student Services: 01793 427755 www.lawnmanor.org Email: admin@lawnmanor.org @lawn_manor

Great Big Dance Off National Finals Congratulations to Year 9 and 10 dance students for performing in the Great Big Dance Off National Finals at Cheltenham Town Hall on Monday. It s the second year running that Lawn Manor has reached the finals thanks to the amazing choreography of dance teacher Natasha Dixon. Art at Lawn Manor Year 7 Year 11 Well done to Year 7 here is a sample of their work which was produced by our Year 7 Artists in the style of Georgio Morandi. They performed brilliantly and really rose to the occasion. Lawn Manor came 9th overall out of 22 schools in the country; the students represented the school brilliantly and should be so proud of their achievements. Mrs Jarvis Well done to our Year 11 pupils who have completed their GCSE Art and Design course with OCR. Our exhibition is currently on show until the 13 th July you are more than welcome to attend via an appointment- please do not hesitate to contact Caireen Young on cyoung@lawnmanor.org Ex Pupils at Swindon College In June we had the privilege of attending the Swindon College degree show and it was lovely to see two of our former pupils exhibiting their work. They left us in 2012. Caireen Young

Lawn Manor Summer Music Concert Last night saw Lawn Manor Academy music and dance students put on a spectacular show at the Swindon Arts Centre to a packed out audience. With a variety of acts and ages ranging from Year 7 to Year 10 it really was a night to remember. The students worked incredibly hard to put on such a great performance and their professionalism and enthusiasm was plain to see and remarked upon by a number of audience members. They really were a credit to the school and their community and we cannot wait to put together our next showcase! Well done everyone!! Mr Jones
