2018-19 GUIDELINES Verification of Active Parish Membership Families, who are active parishioners of St. Gregory the Great Parish or Our Lady of Lourdes Congregation, are billed for tuition at the Active Parish Member Tuition rate. The Non-Member Tuition rate applies to all other families. Guidelines have been developed to determine active parishioner status. Families desiring the Active Parish Member Tuition rate are required to submit this form at the time of registration. By meeting the following criterion, families are considered active parishioners and qualify to receive discounted tuition. 1. Parish Registration / Sunday Mass Attendance / Active Parish Participation A family is registered and active in the parish. Active parish membership is demonstrated by attendance at Sunday Liturgy, participation in parish religious, social and outreach programs and regular financial contribution. 2. Stewardship / Financial Contribution The financial support of any parish is crucial for its overall growth and ministry. It is expected that a family requesting the discounted tuition rate embrace stewardship and demonstrate a good faith commitment to the financial well-being of their parish. To be eligible for the active parishioner tuition rate, a family must annually sign and return a pledge card, and contribute towards this pledge to the best of their ability. Those who do not meet the criteria mentioned above will be assigned the non-member rate of tuition. The goal of these guidelines is to provide a solid foundation for Catholic education. We have been entrusted with the responsibility of raising our children in the practice of the faith. Together we can meet the challenge of providing both a strong Catholic school education and vibrant parish in which our children mature in faith, hope, and love. Exceptions to these guidelines are at the sole discretion of the pastor of St. Gregory the Great Parish School. If you have questions about your faith life, the parish or participation requirements, please make an appointment with the pastor as soon as possible. INSTRUCTIONS: Complete the family information below. Return this form with your registration paperwork. Family Name Parish Name Member ID / Envelope # Our family is dedicated to the faith formation of our child(ren). We attend Mass as a family and support our parish financially and through our involvement in parish activities and ministries. St. Gregory the Great Parish School Financial Assistance with Tuition Parish Subsidy Families who are active parish members at a Catholic Parish other than St. Greg s or Our Lady of Lourdes are not eligible for the active parish member tuition rate. A family who actively participates in another parish may qualify for assistance from that parish. In this case, the family should seek a Tuition Subsidy from that parish. We encourage you to discuss your situation with your pastor. For clarity, St Greg s parish does not give a Tuition Subsidy in this matter and recommends you look to your parish to provide this service. Scrip Tuition Credit The purpose of the Scrip Tuition Credit program is to allow St. Greg s school families to generate reduction in their family s tuition costs simply by buying gift cards purchased through the Scrip Program. It costs nothing to participate and a percentage of the proceeds raised is automatically calculated and returned to you in the form of a tuition credit towards the following year s tuition. Additionally, your family and friends can partner with you by requesting that the profits from their purchases be designated to your family. For more information about Scrip stop by the parish or school office or visit us online at www.stgregsmil.org. Milwaukee Parental Choice Program The Milwaukee Parental Choice Program (Choice) allows students from families who reside in the City of Milwaukee to attend any participating private school located in the city if eligibility criteria are met and seating is available. For details, visit the Choice homepage at http://dpi.wi.gov/sms/choice.html or contact the school office. St. Gerard Scholarship The St. Gerard Fund was established in 1997 with the proceeds from the sale of the St. Gerard property and the closing of the parish. The parishioners of St. Gerard established the fund to provide grade school scholarships for Catholic school students in a defined area surrounding the St. Gerard facility. St. Greg's is among the parishes whose families can apply for student scholarship money through the Archdiocese. Scholarships are awarded based on volunteer service, academic achievement or efforts and special financial needs. Each year the scholarship awards $500 to selected students in grades one through eight. Applications for the scholarships are available in the school office. Families who have previously received scholarship funds from St. Gerard s are eligible to apply again. In order to apply for the scholarship fund, registration information must be completed and on file in the school office. St. Greg s Scholarship Fund Through the generous support of Tuition Angels St Greg s is able to offer assistance to parish families who are experiencing a financial crisis or are in need of extended financial aid. Scholarships from the parish scholarship fund are based on need and funds available. Each year, St. Greg's Scholarship Review Board grants full or partial scholarships to several families. Applications for parish scholarships are available in the office. In order to apply for the scholarship fund, registration information must be completed and on file in the school office. Catholic Knights Grade School Scholarship Student OR the student s parent or grandparent must be a financial member of Catholic Knights. Selection is based on a random drawing and is available for grades 1-8. Student must apply annually. Please contact Catholic Knights directly for information. 5
