School Uniform: Appearance: Uniformity in school dress enhances the tone of the school and fosters amongst the learners a feeling of belonging together, as well as a sense of loyalty and pride. Learners are expected to wear the correct full uniform at all times during school hours and in public. Learners travelling to and from school must be properly dressed in school or sports uniform. Partial wearing of the uniform in public is not permitted learners should change out of school uniform in the afternoon (this includes After Care) before being allowed out to play. The correct sports uniform is to be worn at practices and for matches. Any child wearing an incorrect item of clothing is required to bring a note of explanation from his/her parents. Parents are to purchase the correct articles of uniform from the official stockists. Garments that are different or inferior, are not acceptable and may not be worn to school. (Attaché Benmore & Randburg; Attaché situated on the school premises, next to the school hall) All articles of clothing, including shoes, must be clearly marked. Uniform checks will be conducted from time to time and so we request that your child wears the correct uniform at all times. School Colours: Please note that the School colours are yellow and royal blue. The wearing of navy blue hair accessories or shorts is not acceptable. Summer Uniform: Boys Summer Uniform: White short-sleeved shirt with school badge on pocket, grey shorts, long grey fold-over socks with school stripes, black lace up school shoes, grey pullover with school stripes. Please take note that only Grade Seven boys may wear long grey trousers in summer. Girls Summer Uniform: School dress (blue, yellow, white tartan), white ankle socks, black school shoes, grey jersey with school stripes. Optional: School blazer, Dri-mac with Bryneven badge. Winter Uniform: Boys Winter Uniform: White long-sleeved shirt, school tie, long grey trousers, long grey fold-over socks with school stripes, black lace up school shoes, grey pullover with school stripes. Girls Winter Uniform: White long-sleeved shirt, school tie, grey school tunic or long grey trousers with a front zip, long grey fold-over socks with school stripes or grey stockings, black school shoes, grey jersey with school stripes. Sports Uniform: The school tracksuit is an optional item of the Bryneven Primary School uniform and may only be used for sport. The Bryneven floppy hat / baseball cap/ peak cap with school badge is compulsory for all outdoor activities including PE. Due to the rules specifically stated for soccer only, no hats are to be worn for this sport. In all sports, boys and girls are required to tuck shirts into shorts / skorts. No club kit is to be worn for school sports practices. Practice / Physical Education: House T-shirt with school badge / white sports shirt with yellow trim / royal blue and yellow soccer shirt with white or royal blue shorts, predominantly white sports shoes, white ankle socks and royal blue Bryneven hat or cap with school badge. Team: The blue Bryneven swimming T-shirt, yellow swimming cap with Bryneven badge and white shorts. Note: swimmers are not allowed to leave the pool area wearing only their swimming costumes. Cricket: White sports shirt with yellow trim, white shorts, white cricket fold-over socks with school stripes, predominantly white sports shoes, and royal blue baseball cap or floppy hat with school badge. Netball: Royal blue skorts with yellow stripes and white top with yellow trim around the sleeves, white tennis socks, predominantly white sports shoes and royal blue peak cap with school badge for practices. Athletics: Royal blue and yellow soccer shirt, royal blue shorts, white tennis socks, predominantly white sports shoes and Bryneven hat or cap with school badge for practices. Soccer: Royal blue and yellow soccer shirt, royal blue shorts, royal blue and yellow soccer socks, shin pads, soccer boots. No hats are to be worn for practices or matches. Cross-country: Royal blue and yellow soccer shirt, royal blue shorts, white tennis socks, predominantly white sports shoes and Bryneven hat or cap with school badge for practices. Hockey: Royal blue and yellow soccer shirt, royal blue shorts (boys), royal blue skorts with yellow stripes and white top with yellow trim around the sleeves (girls), royal blue and yellow soccer socks, shin pads, hockey boots, gum guard and Bryneven hat or cap with school badge for practices.
Personal appearance and grooming: Girls: Hair and jewellery: Girls hair should be neatly tied back if longer than shoulder length. Only neat, conventional hairstyles are permitted. Shorter hairstyles off the collar must be neatly clipped back or an alice band must be worn. No gel, perming, colouring (including rinses / tints / highlights / peroxide) will be allowed. Beads and fashion items may not be worn in hair. Only yellow and royal blue hair accessories may be worn. Only a watch or a medic alert disc may be worn. Girls may wear one stud earring or sleeper in each earlobe. Boys: Hair and jewellery: Boys hair must be neatly cut and be above collar level. Only neat, conventional hairstyles are permitted. No gel, perming, colouring (including rinses / tints / highlights / peroxide) will be allowed. Beads and fashion items may not be worn in hair. Only a watch or a medic alert disc may be worn. No earrings, chains or bracelets may be worn.
