Term 2, Week 1, 28 th April, 2014 Prayer For ANZAC Day: It is my prayer that the spirit of Easter may permeate Anzac Day, so that a renewed vigour for peace and goodwill among all our citizens may be rekindled from remembering the sacrifice of so many in times of war. They died so we might not only cherish, but also expend ourselves for authentic values of truth, justice and peace in our land. we work for the common good of all by building up the harmony and peace for which the fallen fought and died. Dear parents and friends, Great news for the Wilcannia-Forbes Diocese! His Holiness Pope Francis has appointed a Bishop at last. The new Bishop-elect is Father Columba Macbeth-Green. He is in his early 40s and from Gunningbland, near Bogan Gate, New South Wales. In his early days he was a Franciscan friar but later joined the Pauline Fathers. Until now he has been the Provincial Vicar of the Pauline Fathers and Rector of the Shrine of Mary Help of Christians, Marian Valley, Canungra, Qld. In addition to his management of the Shrine Father Columba is Chaplain to the Queensland South-Eastern Police Force. Thank you to all our students who participated in the ANZAC Day March last Friday. It is important that our young citizens understand just what the ultimate sacrifice entails and that they give thanks for such a sacrifice by so many such a long time ago. Thank you to Lucy Aveyard and Hannah Dunn for their special role in the ANZAC Day ceremony. God s blessings, Trish Cleal, Principal Students of the Week: Infants: Bradley Timbrell-achieving great spelling results. Primary:Ella Burke-for applying reading strategies. Sport:Jack Frith
Catherine McAuley Award: Today at our Monday afternoon Assembly we will present the Catherine McAuley Award. Each year the award winner is announced in Catholic Schools Week and this year the winner was Hannah Dunn. Due to family circumstances Hannah was not able to be at school for the assembly in Catholic Schools Week. Catherine McAuley is significant for St Patrick s School because she founded the order of The Sisters of Mercy. In turn, it was the Sisters of Mercy who founded St Patrick s School, in Trundle, in 1927. We are very proud of Hannah as the 2014 recipient. The town of Trundle has taken up an urgent appeal to help raise $16,000.00 for our local girl Myra Browne-Beaumont (aged 51) who was unfortunately diagnosed with breast cancer last year for which she had removed. The cancer unfortunately has also got into her back bone & hip bone. Myra has been told she only has months to live but with a new radical chemo treatment at a cost of $16,000.00 her life expectancy could be longer or even a complete cure. We are desperate to raise funds within the next 3-4 weeks so Myra can start this treatment. The cost of the treatment is not covered by any other means only by way of what we can raise for her. An Auction will be held next Friday 2nd @ 7.00pm @ the Trundle Services Club for which we are looking for any sort of items to auction. THIS IS WHERE YOUR HELP IS NEEDED! We need any sort of items for auction or you can help with monetary deposits to the trust account we have set up for her.
